    Hey everyone,
I am trying out for the rugby team today. I just started playing this summer and I really like it. I guess I just wanted to ask for good vibes so that I do my best!

I really love this site and I wouldn't even be where I am now in terms of fitness or willingness to try a new sport( I haven't played a sport competitively since elementary school) without seeing and talking with all the amazing guys here. Thank you to all those who make this site a place where a barely fit person can get free workout plans, advice, and inspiration to aspire to be the best they can be and get the most out of their life.

    wish me luck!

OK so they didn't officially pick teams today, but I know they were looking at the top 10 and I got 11th on the sprints. I still feel like I have a chance at the top team, but to be honest I am glad just to try out and hang out with these guys. Rugby is one of the few sports I love and my only regret is that I ddidn't come out to play sooner. I am really fortunate in that this guys are really good and more importantly they are super helpful. I get yelled at occassionally but it's part of the game and I think it's better to be yelled at because it means they care! I will keep you informed. Thanks for the support Jump_Man!

Hey good for you. Never too late to start something. Have fun, learn, and the game will fall into place. Not that I've played rugby, but started hockey just a couple years ago and just having fun. Keep us up to date. Hopefully you place on a team soon.

Would you tell them that you're gay?

You know, I played rugby for a semester in college. It was a lot of fun. I was terrible (I was a distance runner, which is the opposite of the build you want), but it's good to try things that you're not naturally good at. It is a great sport, mesmerizing to watch, and I'm glad I gave it an effort.

Though I'm generally pretty pro-being-out-all-over-the-place, I couldn't bear to do it with those guys. There's a definite element of head-in-sweaty-crotch and even a bit of "how much can we hurt someone without getting penalized" that might be something to consider. Maybe if I had actually been GOOD things might have been different, but I wouldn't judge a guy for keeping his sexuality to himself in that crowd...

But that's getting off-topic. Congrats to the OP for trying out for the team, and it's a real credit to try to do something new and interesting. Let us know how things turn out!
