I've never checked out the groups section before, I was regerring more to the forums. I'll have to check those out though. Thanks!
Reminds me of AOL when it was a top site, where different parts of it, particularly the numerous chat rooms, were total opposites.
I mainly used the gay chat rooms, and aside from the occasional straight troll who'd come in to spam us with Biblical condemnations, or spew Right Wing homophobic political hate straight from the national Republican Party Platform and NOM literature, it was a friendly atmosphere. But many other rooms were not.
I created several SNs around motorcycling, like Gay Motorcyclist, Gay Biker, and so on. Interestingly they didn't get 67092364915273 tagged onto them, so I guess they were original.
I'd love to go into Harley Chat, and other biker rooms, and see how long it would take for me to get bashed. And I wasn't being provocative or disruptive, like some of our RJ political trolls, not even mentioning gay topics in them.
I'd be discussing benign on-topic subjects like good biker roads, experiences with different bike makes, riding stories, repair issues, etc. But as soon as they realized what my SN said, maybe first asking if I was really a "fag", the room would go ballistic with insults & threats, and demands that I leave "their" room.
Sounds like bodybuilding.com might be somewhat the same. So take and exploit their BB advice for free, avoid the hostile areas, and check out the gay groups. No reason to surrender the field to a bunch of homophobes, and deny yourself beneficial stuff you enjoy. Fuck 'em. Just don't patronize their products or advertisers, if you can.
