People that are two-faced.....

Ever notice how two-face some people can be: all nice & sweet to those they like & are into & have a thing for & totally cold, mean, dismissive & nonchalant to those they don't care for or don't want to know or want nothing to do with? Do u find these people very fake: all nice & cordial to ur face but a backstabber soon as u turn ur back? Are u one of these people? Would u even admit that u are? Do u ever catch urself acting or being this way? Do u think it's right to give preferential treatment to only those u like & be snotty & bitchy to those who don't fill ur prurient desires? Do u think ur shit don't stink? Do u only smile on those that u think are in ur league or above ur league & look down on those u think are below ur league? Or do u treat everyone fair & even & try to be nice to everyone and make it a point to do so everyday in all ur interactions? How were u raised? Do u practice the Golden Rule: treat everyone as u would like to be treated?.....

I was treated like shit at work for many years, so I try to be nice, especially to new people. I almost got fired for fighting with one asshole who was harassing someone else, and because that asshole was eventually rewarded with a supervisor's position, allowing his asshole behavior to increase, a lot of people who came after me consider me a hero. I'm flattered, even though I shouldn't be. The good news is that asshole is now a supervisor in a new and unfamiliar place, where senior people know A LOT more than he does, and when he starts throwing his weight around, they'll let him hang when he doesn't know how to handle something.

I think to some degree we all have a certain level of dislike for someone else and voice that dislike to a third party without the other person knowing about it. That is fine, but when it's actually a habit and then you act differently to their face, that is what really says a lot about your character. I know that I may have in the past said some things about someone and then put up the "good to their face" act on, but I grew up somewhere and realized that it's not nice and I am not a perfect human being. I don't give any person preferrential treatment on the basis of good looks or how their personality is, I've become quite direct but also learnt the art of diplomacy to keep the peace. I reframe now from talking about anyone behind their back or bitching about someone else behind their back, if there's something I'm not happy with, I try to diplomatically say it to their face without causing any feelings of resentment.

i like this thread because it perpetuates solutions instead of complaining about problems.

This is the exact opposite of being two faced.

True. We're nice to those we like, indifferent to those we don't like.....

No, the person switches from nice & sweet to cold & mean so they're two-faced.....

Most people would define two-faced as being nice to your face and being unkind or insulting about you behind your back. If they're mean and dismissive to your face, then they're not necessarily being two-faced.

I think two-face can also mean what I said above. But it's all covered in my OP icon_smile.gif .....
