Ok, who in California got that Amber Alert thing on their cell phones last night? Didn't get it on my unlocked/unbranded Galaxy S3. But got it on my T-mobile branded Nokia.

Annoyed? Glad it's there? Should cell phone provider enable this feature by default?

I did not get the Amber Alert, but while I was in Chicago earlier this year my phone gave off the "Emergency Broadcast Network" signal when a tornado warning went into effect. I was glad I got the warning.

have you or anybody in here heard what happened of the case ever since?
Kinda funny how the Amber Alert on cell phones got more attention than the actual Amber Alert.

Also, Google has a dedicated page for public alerts..

I've never gotten an Amber Alert on any phone, though I'd certainly welcome it. Did get my first & only full-screen weather alert a couple of months ago on my iPhone, about local flooding in South Florida.

I wasn't aware I had changed any settings, and didn't add any new weather app, so maybe a new feature of an app I already had. Oddly I only saw the message for a moment, and couldn't trace it back to either of my 2 existing weather apps, nor was it a text message blast. I sometimes get those from the power company when there's gonna be a planned electrical service outage in our area.

Same here! And they look like this accompanied with a really loud noise:

Oh yeah, I know how to turn the notification off on the settings page.
