"The United States has the most people in prison by far of any country in the world. With 5% of the world’s population, we have 25% of the world’s prisoners – 2.3 million criminals. China with a population 4 times our size is second with 1.6 million people in prison."

    I sure didn't know that!

So let me see if I got this right. A Liberal hack writing for a Liberal "media outlet" citing only other Liberal "media outlets" wants thinking people to believe that there isn't a Liberal bias in the main stream media?
Wow! Who would have ever thought such a thing?

There are so many holes in what he's written about each of the 15 things he's mentioned I wouldn't even know where to begin.
For example, he mentions wealth inequality, something I hear a lot about from the mainstream media. He tells us that 88 % of the wealth in this country is held by 20% of the people but forgets to tell us that that same 20% pay the lions share of taxes. The top 5% of earners still paid far more than the bottom 95%. The top 5% earned 31.7% of the US adjusted gross income, yet they paid 58.7% of the federal individual income taxes. (Taxfoundation.org).

Interesting that the author mentions ALEC and it's influence yet forgets to mention the influence of such Progressive organizations such as the Tides Foundation, The Open Society Institute or the PLAN (Progressive States Network, Officially called Progressive Legislative Analysis Network, formed as a Liberal counterweight to ALEC in 2005). For some reason the author failed to mention that a large part of PLAN's stated purpose is to furnish state legislatures with prewritten legislation that reflects leftist/Liberal/Progressive agendas as "models" for legislation in an attempt to gain power on a state-by-state basis. He also forgot to mention the Progressive groups that coordinated in the SoSP Project, a group of Progressive organizations that worked to get Progressives elected to Secretary-of-state positions in critical swing states such as Minnesota, the holder of this office has a key role in determining the winner in a close election and certifying the vote. ( does AL Frankin ring any bells?).

Need I go on and point out the bull laid down in each of the 15 points?

You're right Virginia, how could we have ever thought there was a Liberal bias in the main stream media? How silly of us! Thank you for exposing us to this Liberal hack, citing all Liberal sources to show us that there really is no Liberal bias in the media. I can sleep so much better now!

When a major television news corporation puts up a large banner for all viewers to see saying "Mission Accomplished" the same night Obama was first elected president, that kinda says a lot.

One of my main worries with my husband being a Yankee, would of been if we called America home, and had children. public schools in America are controlled by the liberals, thus fear of liberal brainwashing of our children; thus they would not need a liberal media.

Stop being a douche and trying to make someone successful look bad because they are more successful than you are, MR. penny novelist ! I never said I didn't provide healthcare to my employees. In fact, everything I've written has been about my concern about how I am going to be able to continue to provide healthcare for my employees.

Say, aren't you the guy always complaining that you're not getting enough of a share from other peoples work so you can stay home all day and post on here and write penny novels?

Since you actually have anything to do with agriculture please explain the bee issue to us stupid farmers so we can understand it. Maybe you aren't aware that the Italian Honey Bee is only one type of bee that we use.

The author doesn't bother to explain that the 25% of the worlds prisoners includes those in jail, prison, on probation and parole (from the 2009 Pew Center report). The author fails to point out that different countries use different formulas to determine their reported prison populations When you count those on probation and parole it makes a very different picture than just saying that 25% of the worlds prisoners are in the US.
The author makes no mention that 2007 was the high water mark and that since then prison populations in the US have been declining. There were 100,000 fewer people under supervision in 2011 than 2010 (Teh 2009 Pew Center report).
It's a complex issue that would take more space than alloted here to dicuss adiquately and certainly more space than the author allowed for while conveniently leaving out how the 25% number was caculated and the discrepencies in how prison populations are determined by different countries as well as not mentioning a steady decline since 2007.

Hardly. those of us who actually farm rely on more than just one kind of bee and spend plenty of time and money to attract native bees besides using the Italian Honey Bee. The reality is that Hive collapse has always been with us and was reported in this country as far back as the 1700s.
The bee issue, much like Global Cooling/Global Warming/Climate Change, is agenda driven science and is more concerned with producing a desired outcome.

I assumed the prison population problem was caused by drug-related convictions, but this article states that our violent criminals in prison outnumber all of Western Europe's prisoners combined.

If you watch the nightly news it is crowded with weather talk and fluff nowadays. Go back 5 years and there were war dead counts and early in Bush's 2's presidency talk of how HORRIBLE 4.7% unemployment was.

The media picks and chooses what to follow. This author is just disgruntled because Newsday magazine no longer has a job for him.

Interesting arguments. In my mind, a media with a 'liberal' bias would be a conservative one, albeit it with a guilty conscience....

There`s similar accusations thrown against the BBC from conservatives, but I think it`s more to do with the fact that they have an imagination failure: so convinced are they of their own 'truth', how could any fair minded, intelligent individual/media broadcaster be anything other than conservative?

Also, this claim of bias usually comes from people with a fairly biased view of things anyway. The Left here in the UK thinks the BBC has a right wing bias! They tend to remember only the stories that contradict their views. Everything that confirms it is regarded as routine and eventually fades...

In time, with the accumulation of these leading stories, the broadcaster`s output appears biased in the opposite direction.

Really! You're going to compare me to farmers in the dust bowl because I question your expertise? The produce from my ranch feeds people like you everyday and has been for more than 10 years now and you are going to try to school me when what you know about agriculture could rest on a pin head?
Can you please explain to me why so many scientists are pulling back on the global warming and questioning their models?
Not in great detail, but could you explain to me exactly what hive collapse is?
Maybe you can name 10 or 12 of the other pollinators of farm crops, other than the Italian Honey Bee?
Maybe you can name just one or two of the native species of bee that farmers attract to their fields? No, I didn't think so.

Foolishness maybe tragic, but fools like you who are experts on everything and yet know nothing at the same time are insufferable. Can you say BAAAA! I'm sure you can, you do it on here everyday!

Unlike you, I have some work to get back to. Have a good afternoon. Oh, sorry, that's right you're working on your next penny novel, aren't you?

Oh, sorry, that's right you're working on your next penny novel, aren't you?

metta8 said15 things everyone would know if there were a liberal media

    httpthe ://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/08/07/1229087/-15-things-everyone-would-know-if-there-were-a-liberal-media

Aren't you the rich guy who doesn't provide health insurance to his emoloyees?

Stop being a douche and trying to make someone successful look bad because they are more successful than you are, MR. penny novelist ! I never said I didn't provide healthcare to my employees. In fact, everything I've written has been about my concern about how I am going to be able to continue to provide healthcare for my employees.

Say, aren't you the guy always complaining that you're not getting enough of a share from other peoples work so you can stay home all day and post on here and write penny novels?

Projecting much? The fact that you judge me based on my income just shows you're a lowlife.

I'm actually a hard worker. I have a day job, and write novels at night after work. Not that I'm losing a reader in you.

Do tell! You mean that someone actually pays you to sit and post on here all day?

The fact that you want people to judge my character based on your lies about me makes you a better person than I am?

I guess it is true, there is a Liberal double standard! Thanks for proving that to me.

So you think writers are lazy people who sit on their asses all day?icon_rolleyes.gif
