I have notice that the older you get the less you care about appearance. I mean I still care about about staying in shape for myself and a little bit about appearance of potential partner. I notice that I care more about personality the older I get. Do you feel that way?

I know a few of my "Gomies" (Gay Homies) that still dissect every detail of their appearance..and then some like you and I.. Slowly setting in their ways!

And Personality ..Important since day one..

I stay clean and well groomed, but care little for keeping up with fashion trends. In fact, I despise clothes shopping... usually I stick with jeans and t-shirts or polo/button down shirts and rarely go to more than one store. I'm a bit of a stereotypical guy in that way.

Yes I do fee that way!
for the past year or more, I was giving less attention to my body and more in improving the character.

I lost interest in having new clothes...and many more.
My family thinks that I was getting miser for not spending much money, but I was getting wiser. Very few see it.

OMG youre 24? Its all down hill for you now lol.

Its not so much that i dont care as much nowadays, its more important for me to just get up and go. Like I used to spend hours on my hair when i was young, now i just clipper it off. I dont care about fashion anymore, since everything comes and goes in fashion, I've been there and done that. And nothing reeks of desperation more than a 40 something trying to be youthful in the way they dress or worse COLOUR THEIR HAIR! Its like wearing a hair piece, everyone knows and laughs about it.

Same! I remember (being younger) when going to the mall to buy clothes was fun! Now it's a chore!

I'm a lot like the Op, the older I get.
I used to be sure that I looked "just so," before ever leaving the house.
    Now, I don't care.
I take a shower every day, wear clean clothes, comb my hair, and sometimes I shave. LOL.

It's not old age that makes one wiser, it's the time and how one makes use of it!
And there's no correlation between age and maturity.
An old man can still be stupid than a young boy.
Thank god I've only mentioned about clothes!! phew! lol

Haha so true. The sad thing is that it only seems to be the gays in the village who dress way below their age, maybe to recoup teenage romantic years that never happened?

NO! I am 46 and for years I've been exercising and staying in shape. I want to look as good as possible as long as possible. Actually, to answer your question I actually work harder now to maintain my appearance more than I did when I was younger. But it's also a mindset, I've always worked out, ever since my teenage years when I was training to be a lifeguard. The endorphins I feel after a workout still feel great, and I am following a personal goal. And I would want someone who cares about their personal appearance and basically has the same mindset.

Fortunately as I get older my vision is also deteriorating.

Older people could probably hook up more with each other if only science hadn't interfered with the new fangled glasses and contact lenses and such. I hear I still look pretty good fuzzy.

I'll probably always care about how I look and generally look the part. I do think personality is very important and always have. I'd rather have an average guy with a great personality any day of the week than a hot guy who's a shit.

Your're only 25. Letting appearance slip as you age does happen, but not until you're at least twice your current age. icon_razz.gif

I don't really dress that great unless I'm going somewhere special or for business. Whenever I do errands or just hang out, I wear lounge pants and loose shirts for comfort, as sometimes jeans feel too heavy. I do make sure my hair is combed and clothes are neat all the time, though.

...Time and Gravity ALWAYS win vs the body.
In the end, looks always fade, so by the time the looks fade, I would hope that everyone develops a personality that is colorful, vibrant, and likable and has the ability to communicate....that's the person that will have a long rich life full of friends and acquaintances....icon_cool.gif

I try to look good, but its more about having style then alot of trendy shit. I used to work in Menswear. I still have to wear suits, but mainly biz casual. Im at that awkward stage where im not 40 and try not to look like one, but I still have a decent body and wear clothes well, and im not old enough for Arnold Palmer Sears wear and velcro walking shoes.(nothing against Arnold, he was a stylin guy in the 60ies.)
At home, flannel boxers and a smile.

i think i have always been that way. i think the thing that has changed for me as i have gotten older is my laundry list of things i wanted in a potential mate. now it is a very short list but a very significant one though
