Since i was a child, i had to take all the bully shit from bigger people than me. When i was searching for help from my parents or any one who was bigger, the y just told me "why you let them do it?"

The only solution for me was learn how to fight. My Dad, like a whole Latino macho man, he didn´t like a son who train martial arts. He wanted a son who practice soccer. It just was until i was 23 years old that i decided to practice martial arts. I started with ninjutsu, and today i practice karate kyokushin.

So want to listen your stories, and make more martial friends

first: i dont think macho and soccer really relate at all once you watch the sport...
second: before I even went to preschool. It's something that has always been there, and has helped me be confident in myself. oh, and I do taekwondo.

Started in 2009 after a guy I was with for four years ended it off. I needed to establish an identity and the martial arts were a way to do that.

I've been studying Northern Shaolin Kung Fu for over 11 yrs now. Mostly out of interest. Always been interested in martial arts but, also a bit of a nerd for games and culture.

I was fascinated by the art and wanted to learn some self-defense as well. I got into Shaolin Kung-fu. I was so dedicated they asked me to instruct it. It was one of the best things I ever did.

Martial arts movies, animes got my original interest when I was a kid but I couldn't afford lessons back then. Finally got into it during my college years.

I just felt like I identified with it, and now I see it as a lifestyle

Well, here in latin america, men think that other men who don´t like soccer is gay. My dad think that one man who doesn´t like soccer is a damn lady inside os a man´s body

Just got back from my first Krav Maga class, all I can say is INTERESTING. I signed up for 2 classes a week for one year. Never had any kind of self defense training before.

I was rather sickly as a kid and beat up a lot til I studied the movements of the attacker and used them to my advantage and from that the Palm Block Technique(PBT) was born.
its made of hard and soft block and defensive strikes.
(Soft block) redirect the opponents limbs by moving joints
(Hard block) contact is made but the body moves to reduce impact.
Strikes are major internal organs and pressure points.

Well I had to deal with some bullying growing up as well. I had always wanted to study martial arts just because of its aesthetic appeal, but over time it became a little more about wanting to know how to defend myself. Now at 28 I've found I still have those ambitions in mind, but another added one which is just to find inner balance and peace with myself. To conquer one's own inner self and evolve into a better person is what I think every martial art should be about. Some might disagree though. I've recognized I just need this for myself.

My mom forced me to take karate classes when I was younger. Oh I hated it lol. I still remember my first kata when I was in second grade.

I was an angry kid growing up lol completely different to who I am today, martial arts was the only thing that made sense to me at the time and was a perfect outlet for me to clear my head

Initially age 13 purely for protection. That was 48. Years ago yes had to use it found when attacked by 3 guys kickboxing and m.m.a start training to fight to rules was totally ineffective so took the traditional route primarily Wing Chun

I started kickboxing because I attended a class purely by coincidence.

I'm doing Capoeira now because I've been wanting to do it ever since I first played TEKKEN as Christi monteiro. That was when I knew . . .
