Rugger, I howled when I saw your post. Is that really your car? I get a kick out of the rugger (rugby, rugged) and the pink convertible thing. I hope it IS your car. That would be the best.
And Matt...geez, if I'd known you drove a Subaru Outback, I would have hit on you sooner. Wait a minute, does that make me a lesbian too??? (I actually owned one so I must be.)
Mindgarden, glad to find another soul in love with Paul Walker. That man....I just get sort of stupid and mute everytime I see him. I don't know what it is. I would watch him paint railings or mow grass and still be in awe. He was great in "8 Below" - the movie about him and his sled dogs.
ShortnSexy (ummm, yes you really are), not sure if you have seen these articles but some economists have been running the numbers and finding that the cradle to grave environmental footprint of a Prius is actually WORSE than a Hummer!!! Because a Hummer will last for something like 15 years. And a Prius is filled with 1500 pounds of lead-acid batteries and will probably only run for 8 years (not sure of the two lengths of time but the Hummer was estimated to last longer by a large spread). Of course, this is counter-intuitive and causes grief to the "keep the message simple" green crowd. I am a card-carrying eco-social-capitalist by the way and am involved in sustainability so I definitely support doing the right thing. But sometimes doing the right thing is not the obvious thing. Unfortunately it makes our buying decisions even harder!
Thanks for starting the thread Cacti. Good for humour and for getting to know more of you.
Oh, and I drive a Subaru Outback, a Toyota Tacoma, a Mazda 3, a Mini, a BMW, and a Jetta - I use the ZipCar service in my city so I can use whatever car I feel like using at the time. It's cheap, I get to drive lots of different cars, and I don't have to carry the lease all the time so it costs me about $150K/mo all in. If anybody lives in a dense urban center, I recommend looking at them.
