There needs to be a meeting of gay Olympic athletes to formulate a united response. So far, everyone is talking about us (I'm a three-time Olympic coach), but we don't seem to be talking to each other. Can an athletes' rep to the USOC pull something together? There also needs to be an LGBT caucus within the USOC and the IOC.

Please lend your support, and let the USOC know how you feel. You can send a message to the USOC at:

And/or send a note to the USC Athletes’ Rep at the following address: tell them that we need a combined athletes’ response, and the formation of an LGBT committee:

Athletes Reps also have Facebook and Twitter pages:

Not specifically - the IOC said that athletes would be removed for any political/religious activity. The more reason we need to bring pressure on the USOC to formulate an LGBT-positive response.

If the Black Panthers can use the raided fist symbol at the Olympics, so can LBT people. So what if you're removed after winning a medal?

But for the non-medalists? The USOC has to deal with this, and they will only do it if we keep at them.

Imagine what the IOC would do if the Russians banned Black athletes...

Imagine what the IOC or any country specific Olympic Committee would do if it were the Summer Olympics!! Winter Games are way less profile and not watched as much as the Summer Games. I watch both equally but a lot of people are not interested in Winter Olympics, including big advertisers. That's the biggest problem here. Why is no one suggesting boycotting advertisers or tv networks?
