My mum does that and when we are sitting on the dinner table with her, we have to do it too.

Good point. Like most stuff in religion... "Pray for the poor, the needy, the sick, the etc...". Hell no! Your prayers are not going to do a damn thing. Only acting upon things and donating time and money will, and other stuff to.

I am much more concious of the animal's life with the meat I get from a local farmer. For instance, I know that my guarter of beef is grazing for only another week. I know what day she is to be butchered (in the early morning), and the meat will be delivered to me in the afternoon.
[Her warrant is signed for september 5th]

Likewise, I am familiar with a similar timetable for a side of lamb from a different farmer.

I have cultivated these relationships over the 5 and a half years I have lived on Prince Edward Island, by frequenting the local Farmer's Market every week, and buying my meat and produce fresh.icon_biggrin.gif

I could save money by going out to the farm and helping with the butchering, but a one handed cook is not very helpful. icon_redface.gif

So I pay the farmer a bit extra to wrap it for me on my behalf.
