"If there were in our world today a large number of people who desired their own happiness, as opposed to the unhappiness of others, we would have paradise in a few years."

We just need to be more supportive and more conscious of one another instead of always tearing each other down. This is what I'm interpreting from this quote.

    To be honest, probably not!
I sense a loophole in it.

"If you can paint, I can walk."

To Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr's unintentionally hilarious last line in the classic romantic film "An Affair to Remember" where Kerr plays a crippled nightclub singer hiding her infirmity to former flame Grant's playboy artist.

well, people are jealous because they want better for oneself first; it's the ego that people need to fight in themselves, but that's a hard work. imagine a person who likes criticizing to stop doing it and give only sincere compliments instead. i mean, it's possible but not likely to happen. at least, not till a person grows up, and often that is not happening till someone is pushing their 60's... tho, even more often that never happens.

Now 50s, approaching my 60s, I'm only gonna criticize half that.

You got the first half right. As said Siddhartha: Subdue yourself, and discover your master.

But as to the 2nd part, though it probably isn't any fun only seeing negatives, Abraham Lincoln said “He has a right to criticize, who has a heart to help.”

Concurred Churchill: “Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.”

While people learn best from their own mistakes, if you see someone about to drive off a cliff, say something; and don't just compliment their driving.

Meh... Not a big fan of that one. I can't do anything with it really.

Said differently, in a slightly gayer way:
"Tear down that BITCH of a bearing wall and put a window where a window should be!"
Works for so very many situations.

But seriously, the OP's sentiment is our guiding principle for our own actions.
