I feel terrible for her. Producers for That '70s Show
had wanted to make her a full-time regular, but she backed out of her contact, which even then was a sign that something wasn't right in her life. She did that interview with TMZ where she was crying and clearly in a very bad way. Her personal problems had cost her career, and now her life.
She often turned up in movies and TV series that I loved. She was in one of my favorite X-Files episodes, "Syzygy", playing one half of a pair of hilariously evil Carrie-style girls with telekinetic powers.
She also uttered the immortal line "Carpet munchers!" in Jawbreaker. It's a line I've mimicked more than a few times.
There's something very eerie about this shot of her in better times. The background looks dark and ominous. There's the iconic palm tree, always a symbol of the Hollywood Dream. There's something in her eyes, like she's gazing into the future, and fears what's in store for her.
