If you're up for a short road trip, Mt. Dora is about 50 miles north of Orlando. Sometimes I think it's a little too intentionally "quaint," but there are lots of cool restaurants and shops and you can have an enjoyable, laid back day hanging out there.

I agree if you're into the gay club scene, I think it's a ton of fun, but then again how fun it is will depend always on who you go with!

Depends on what you're looking to do. If you're referring to gay nightlife, Brink Friday nights, Parliament House Saturdays, Sundays there's a good vibe at Ember in the late afternoon/early evening which movies to Latitudes after that. Just bars to hang out, Savoy or Hammered Lamb. For a change of pace, Tampa's Ybor City is about 1.5 hours on I-4, Friday nights is Steam at the Honey Pot and Saturdays is GBar.

If you're staying down by the theme parks then its up to you, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are the roller coaster theme parks. Disney is well...Disney, no further explanation there. Cocoa Beach is about 45min to an hour from Orlando if you're looking to do the beach. There's also Kennedy Space Center out there.

If you'd like to have some nice meals, I'd recommend Winter Park, Bosphorus Turkish restaurant is good, Italian there's Prato, breakfast/brunch on Sundays there's Briarpatch (try the stuffed Brie and raspberry French toast.) there are several more great restaurants in winter park, Ravenous Pig (make reservations well in advance) for one. Great Vietnamese food downtown, try pho 88 or little Saigon, Tako Cheena, or Hawkers. Thornton Park is a little gaybprhood downtown, good restaurants include Dexter's, Grafitti Junction, Wildsides BBQ, Shari sushi ... One thing, keep away from the restaurants on International Drive (known here simply as I drive), they're over priced, poor quality and wracked with tourists. Get out of that area, downtown, Dr. Phillips area (lots of great restaurants down there), winter park area all have great restaurants.

Shopping...outlets down by Disney and on IDrive. Malls - Mall at Millenia Is the high end mall, Florida mall has a bit of everything. Only real IMAX theater in town is at Pointe Orlando on I Drive.

Park Avenue in Winter Park is a nice shopping district with restaurants, etc. It is next to Rollins College where the Morse Gallery is located. It is one of the world's largest collections of Tiffany glass. The college chapel and adjoining theater are quite interesting also and within a block or two of the Morse Gallery.
