A Good Gay Book

I'm a tenacious reader, and enjoy mostly fiction/fantasy/sci-fi books. If the protagonist has powers, or is a vampire, or whatever, bring it on! I especially love these non-reality story lines.

However I have notice a lack of "gay" books that fall into this category. After browsing the LGBT section at my local bookstore or looking online, I have found that nearly all LGBT books are about coming to terms with the protagonist's sexuality. Or dealing with a loss/question of faith over his or her sexuality, and so on... All the books are centered on the character being gay. And to be honest, after reading quite a few of these books, they starting are becoming stagnate, old, and repetitive.

What I'm looking for, and am having trouble finding, is a book about a gay kid who has superpowers, or is bitten by a werewolf, or is born on a spaceship. Or some fantastical story line that is centered on something other than the character's sexuality. Something that has an engaging plot line and just happens to have a LGBT main character.

I have read "Hero" by Perry Moore. Which is about a young teenager who is struggling with his own sexuality, but also discovers that he has inherited superpowers from his deceased mother. In the end he has saves the world... and that is the main focus of this plot line, not the fact that he is gay. This was a GREAT book, and I want to read more like it... but I'm not sure if they exist!

If anyone knows of a book that I just haven't stumbled upon, please point me to it! I'm curious if anyone else has had also noticed a gaping hole in the LGBT genre? Or am I just way off base?

    Thanks for the help!

Tigers & Devils and Tigerland (sequel) by Sean Kennedy are really good. It follows the relationship of a "common guy" and the growth of his relationship with a rugby player. It's not cheesy or filled with sex scenes. It's relatively deep, but there are funny moments. Not quite what you're looking for, but it's better than all of the unrealistic hot "novels."

If you don't mind darker, edgier "Game of Thrones" type fantasy, Richard Morgan's "A Land Fit For Heroes" series has a gay protagonist.

The Bible, followed by Brideshead Revisited should do the trick . . .

Gay vampires. The ones I read were ok; nothing to get excited about.
