how long should my workout be?

    I'm 20 years old and just (very recently) started getting into weight training at my college's gym.

    I've read a TON about lifting and diet etc. But I'm confused bc what I'm doing is not what other guys seem to be doing.

    Basically I'll go mondays, wednesdays, fridays... and sundays will be leg day. I dedicated each day to a different set of muscles and make sure to rest the next day. I'll target chest and shoulders on mondays just for instance. I'll get in and do about 12 sets in my circuit (3 sets for each exercise and about 8-12 reps per set). And of course i rest. All in all this takes me about 30-45 minutes to do my whole routine.

    But i can't help but notice every other guy is in there for a lot longer. They are there before i get there and i leave before them. They must stay there for at least an hour and a half (all in the weight cardio). They jump from machine to machine and will do all sorts of exercises. For instance, they'll go from triceps to biceps to chest to legs. They'll do squats and then bench press and then curls and then lateral raises. And they rest for awhile and it just seems like they stay there like its a park or something. And i would think maybe they are body builders or something but they aren't really that enormous so im just wondering if im doing something wrong. Should i be doing what they do?

    I like 30 mins of cardio 30-40 free weights.

    Have you tried RealJocks workouts? They seem to divide it up by day.

    I do combined workouts. As an example, I do biceps and triceps on Mondays. I do 8 exercises total, 4 sets of 6-8 for each. My workout usually takes 1hr-1.5hr.
