    1) Amy Winehouse (RIP - sang with such world weary conviction and vulnerability)

    2) Thom Yorke (he can make you curl up into a paranoid mound of flesh or swoon and flutter into the heavens)

    3) Michelle Branch (Michelle's voice is timeless, she could have been a singer in the 60s or 70s and she sounds great across all genres)

    4) Prince (snarling, screeching sensuality)

    5) Whitney Houston (she is one of the greatest singers who ever lived, and she gets number 5 because I loved her so much as a kid)
