    FRUSTRATION!

I don't even know why I got it. I mean everybody knows windows is the most obsolete & retrograde system out there. & I was going to get a Macbook pro.

but for some strange and weird reason ($$$$$) I didn't.

& also bc I had no idea Windows 8 SUX SO BAD.

    GOD!

now i can't even use chrome on the desktop bc it keeps opening it on "Start".
    wtf is that btw.

does anyone know how to fix this.
i really need to use chrome on the desktop. and not on Start.

I fckn hate it when shit go on start.

go to menu on the top right corner & click 'Relaunch chrome on the desktop'

I'm using windows 8 for more than 8 months, I think it's not that bad...it sure has few downs...may be an update in Oct, Windows 8.1 may resolve many of the ongoing issues.

thank you mister that worked. thnx!

okay, but i'm still pretty pissed at windows 8.

why is it so different from windows 7.

i feel like they've made everything complicated just for the hell of it.

hey let's fuck around with people and make them feel like they're too old for technology.

they sure weren't thinking about those poor elders that spent like 10 years trying to understand windows 95.

anyways. I just needed to get that shit out of my system.

now, if you're a windows 8 hater you can use this thread for windows bashing and shit.

    or not. whatever

I don't think I'll be using this computer for long anyway.

Just take the plunge and go for a Macbook. I did 8 years ago and I've never had any problems since then. It was a big improvement from the piece of crap Dell computer that I had.

Haha. My company thinks of upgrading to Windows 7 in a couple of weeks. I can't wait for the bitching and moaning to start. My work-laptop is still Windows Xp, so I feel several generations behind the times.

    Theguynextdoor,
I know what you mean, I always go straight to the desktop. everything else seems so confusing for now. lol

even downloading softwares & stuff. you have to make sure it's the 'Windows Desktop' version you're installing and not the windows 8. bc otherwise it'll place it on the initial Start menu and not on the desktop.

I've read that there are a couple programs (1 freeware, 1 paid) that do their best to make Windows 8 look like the Windows 7 desktop. The niche vendor that made my new PC is still shipping Windows 7 by default, and I plan on sticking with it until I hit a situation that requires a newer version of Windows.

I'm using a Toshiba computer btw. I've had a Sony Vaio for 3 years. but now I was supposed to buy a macbook pro. but I got a PC intead & it just feels a lot like I've made a mistake.

windows 7 was not that bad at all. it's just like a better version of windows XP.

windows 8 looks like an ipad platform program + a really bad copy of macintosh.

The main problems happen when the arrow gets near the top corners of the screen - either things appear on the right hand side, taking priority over whatever you're doing, or , if it goes in the left one, the whole fucking screen changes & another program takes over.icon_evil.gif

My friend has that and I have a Mac Pro. He can probably do more with games and little things like that but he said that the set-up was a little complicated. The Mac Pro is easier to me.

The standard rule when installing a new version of Windows is to wait until the first service pack is released, then you can install that version of Windows. The first service pack may fix stupid UI warts.

Reformat and lay down Ubuntu Linux. You'll be amazed at how much more you get out of your hardware.

Need Windows? Run it in a VirtualBox and use something like Windows XP which is light and fast in VirtualBox.

How much does all the basic Ubuntu cost with OpenOffice, and all the other open source software? €0.00

If you're skeptical, try booting off of a CD first to see how it runs on your hardware. You may find that it runs FASTER even off the CD than Windows off the hard drive.

For windows 8 a free p rogram called " Classic shell" will make your dreams come true and make 8 more like 7. It boots directly to the desktop and I never see the other parts of 8( IE tiles etc).

DarkLight saidLol, funny thread. When Steve Jobs supposedly said to Bill Gates in the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley "You know, we're BETTER than YOU!" and Bill supposedly replied, "I don't care!" and pointed to (all of his mass produced products) that should have said it ALL. Apple is MUCH better than "windows" any day.

PS. Typing from my MacBook laptop. icon_cool.gif

Apple is the "new" Microsoft (IOW, "old", "tired", "so, last millennium"). Proprietary, bloated, and marching towards death. If your parents and grandparents are using the stuff, it ain't "cool" anymore.

Ahah we bitch like stereotypical women would about technology but at the same time fix each other's crap in a jiffy like butch male software engineers. icon_lol.gif god I love gay guys

The new Windows 8 is the 3rd biggest fail in Windows OS systems. First being Vista and 2nd being ME. icon_lol.gif

If you can still return it, I would return it, save some $$$ and go for the new macbook air with the Intel Haswell Processor. This "tock" does wonders for the new MacBook air according to benchmark tests compared to the 2012 macbook pro.

Also the OS Maverick is coming out in fall! icon_biggrin.gif

i'm pretty sure that is exactly what I'm gonna do.

I still felt the need of writing this stuff down tho. just so that people that want to get a new computer know that this platform is definitely not their best option (call it community service if you will.) not saying my voice will have that big an influence on the masses but you never know.

meanwhile turns out the whole world doesn't approve of windows 8.

yesterday i had to deal with yet more MSFT shenanigans when I tried to use the internet.

it just wouldn't let me go on the internets. even tho there was nothing wrong with the connection.

it was bc of that firewall bullshit. so i had to remove my default antivirus software.

    Just say no to MSFT.

    NEVER AGAIN.
