If you saw a Mormon dying....

Much distatse if going around towards those who took away our rights in California... and 29 other states. Anger is in almost everyone's heart in some shape or form. However, I started to question my own anger and asked myself something I now reflect to the whole RJ community.

"If you saw a Morman (or Jerry Falwell--back fro the dead--Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Tony Perkins, etc) dying in a alley, and you knew that this person had a large role in the passage of Prop 8, would you save his/her life? Granted if that you had the knowledge to save his/her life; if not would you go get help (e.g call 911)? Or would you let that person die?"

Absolutely. That does not even merit an explanation. Mormons are wrong of course, but that doesn't go as far as wishing death on them or turning my back on their common humanity.

There are limits to how far I will go to recognize 'common humanity' though. If it was Hitler dying, AFTER the holocaust, I'd personally make him suffer before he dies... for a loooong time. He isn't human.

I'm not too picky however when it comes to burning churches (without people inside them of course)... icon_lol.gif j/k

Yes we'd help him. Whatever it took, and who knows, that person might suddenly realize something about the kindness of those who are compassionate towards those that persecute them, and perhaps question his own prejudices.

    Good topic question!

I would try to help someone I beat up, so I've got to help this guy I stumble across. It's my nature to lend a hand.

Yes of course I would help. I come from a long line of health care providers. It was instilled in me through osmosis that you treat the person first, then you think about them in a moral sense. I have relatives who have treated serial killers for heavens sakes.

Of course (I would help). I don't know why sometimes people equate being angry with someone with letting them die. I don't like to see anyone suffer.

I'm saddened to even see this question posted. I mean really, are we not caring humans? Delete this posting!

Oh bosh! ...these are hateful, demented people less whom the world would be better off. ...no Mormon improves the world ...nor any other zealous religious person ...I wouldnt go out and kill them...until all other avenues to counter them were exhausted....but I sure as hell wouldnt keep them alive either....good riddance...Gay America awaits their natural attrition.....and if an accident hastens that along, then be thankful for small favors.

Amen to that! I may be angry, but I would never leave anyone to die.

Not in England, America or any common law country. No duty of easy rescue.

There's a case where a boy got his hand stuck in a factory machine and the factory owner refused to turn the machine off. Not against the law.

Why should this be deleted? It is a valid question, and just because it is uncomfortable does not make it offensive. Perhaps it is the cynic in me, but I doubt very much we are all caring humans.
I have no doubt that there are people out there who would not help, and who might even take the opportunity to put the boots to them a little. And, at risk of sounding preachy, while I would lose all respect for someone who did such a thing, and could never condone it, I can understand where that anger comes from. Which might forgive, but never excuse such behavior.

This has got to be the single most offensive forum post I have seen on here. Once again, liberals prove that those that preach the most for tolerance are the most intollerant people. Some people believe that there is no constitutional right to marry a member of the same sex. When put to a vote, the people of California, Arizona and Florida responded saying that it was not. So the "tolerant" gay community responds with anger, death threats, and venom to anybody who disagrees with them. And let's not forget the death threats and bigotry aimed at people with any bit of Christan faith.

So let's review, your "ideas" are put to a vote. The people respond back disagreeing with your views. In defeat, you become angry and enraged and threaten armed response. That is called facism. And it is obvious that the people of CA were right to vote this down based on the savage response by the "gay community".

Yes I would save his/her life. Not much to think about really, I would want someone to do that for me. Besides wishing death or not helping someone who really needs your help just seems a little cold.

Philadelphia, if the vote had been over allowing gays to live in the US, would you still be saying this?

    The better question would be...

If you or I were lying on the side of the road, bloodied and battered and wearing No on Prop 8 t-shirts...would the Mormon or the Krazy Kristianist stop to help either of us?

Most of us would help them - the good samaritan invoked - but would they do likewise? Would James Dobson/Pat Robertson/Tony Perkins/Peter LaBarbara help you up and tend to your care or leave you lying in your own blood?

If the vote was to deny all veterans any form of health-care in the US?

This is one of the best topics we've seen, as it makes every person reading search their own hearts.
