Is "GURL" a gay man or black womans idiom? or both?

I have noticed a lot of you buzy queens refer to each other as "Gurl" which I find super cute and funny at the same time, but I feel uncomfortable using it because I thought it was a black womans "bit".

Has the homosexual male stolen it or do they "own" it?

Strong, confident women (black and white) have traits and sayings that resonate with many gay men. Hence the idolization of Madonna etc and the adoption of tendencies of other strong women. Confidence is a very appealing trait. That is my theory....

Yes, GURL not gerl. Adjective to describe a homo to another homo. Gurl, get it right. LOL. Another one of those great contributions to culture by our African American brethren.

I think it was taken from black women by gay men. I've been hearing black women say girl before I was born. I've only heard it from gays recently.

You are a self-hating black man.
