Gorgeous. I read that they might be redesigning the logo altogether and eliminating the wreath. I would rather see the wreath and crest rather than just the crest.

That's a Cadillac? Can't believe I'm saying this, but it's actually beautiful. You guys are really slacking though....no one has pointed out that there are no Black people in this ad.

What ad? That's Pebble Beach last weekend. Remember Ed is black and very few folks throughout GM's history have held the position of VP of Design ..... only six people in a hundred years including Ed Welburn.

I wonder how wise it would be to use a heritage name .... Eldorado ?

There are plenty of 67 Eldo cues in this design.

Although only a concept at this point, it does use the upcoming Omega platform that the large RWD Cadillacs will be based on.

This interesting, but from a little over a year ago. Autoline detroit dot com took a tour with Ed Welburn through the GM design studios

The only styling cues I see are the current Camaro and every Japanese coupe from the last 20 years.

    Derrative and blahhhhhh at best.

Agree, and good observation. This GM wacko wants us to worship anything that comes out of General Motors.

A couple of weeks ago I drove a new Toyota Camry as a rental for a few days. I liked it well enough to tell several folks that it had overcome my visceral dislike of all things Toyota.

This weekend I drove a new Chevy Malibu. The rental agent promised me I'd like it. I was skeptical. But it was damn nice, better than the Camry. And seemingly as tightly put together as my Infiniti. I was really impressed.

    "Derrative"

    ????

Correction Bobby, not just anything ... everything!

Bobby, if you read, which you seldon do instead of assume, you'll notice that I did nothing of the sort. I simply posted the pics and vid of the concept.

And btw, LIEUTENANT Colonel KooKoo, If you want to go another all-night bender (I know its been two or three days), I'll be back from the gym in a couple of hours and I'll be happy to go at it the rest of the night.

I'm not as thrilled with the 2013 Malibu as I'd hoped to be, but I haven't yet driven the slightly changed 2014 Bu to see if it's any better. If you get a chance, try to snag the 2014 Impala as I think you might be impressed by that one.

"The Elmiraj also drew inspiration from the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado, said Clay Dean, executive director of advanced design -- not only in terms of that car's styling, but also in how it signaled a design departure for the brand at that time."

What a handsome car! I really like the long low wide look and dramatic styling. Good to know GM is unleashing their designers and car guys, as evidenced by the 2014 Impala and Corvette.

I'm sick of the "safe and restrained" copycat look of luxury imports. Germans can't build a good looking car to save their life, let alone a reliable one. But then I see a beautiful Tesla and I think...yeah, I want to stretch to buy that one. I get the same feeling from this Cadillac.

For now this is going to be it for their top of the range .... comprised of a large 4 place vert, sedan and coupe. They iced their RR competitor until they build up the brand creed a bit more. I think we'll see the top of the line sedan before too terribly long (what they refer to as the Arrival). These will all be 205 to 207" long so as big as the long wheelbase versions of the 7 and S, and longer than the A/S/RS 8. The significant think about this concept is that it's fully running /driving using the new upcoming Omega platform so this car is doable almost as is.

As stunning as this concept is IMO, I think it needs a little bit more development in the C-pillar / quarter panel area. I don't think it's quite 'there' yet. I have much faith that Welburn will get it there as I think he's every bit the equal of Mitchell.

Anybody who reads about Ed Welburn or sees his work should agree with you. With talented car guys like Ed Welburn and Mark Reuss around, I see why Warren Buffet just loaded up on more GM stock.

But getting back to the Elmiraj. Ironically, this car reminds me a lot of my first new car...a 1983 Trans am. Not so much styling wise, but the entire experience of seeing a car for the first time and KNOWING that I belong in that car.

When I first saw the Trans am, I knew I had to have one. Problem was, I couldn't afford it. I was 20 years old and broke. But I never wanted something so badly in my life. The desire for a new Trans am pushed me to put in 80 hours a week until I had the cash to buy one. And it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Anytime I feel a lack of confidence, I look back on being a 21 year old who set a goal, achieved it...and took away countless good memories as a result.

They say buying a new car is a bad investment. That's not always true. I think cars like the Elmiraj (and 2014 Corvette, Camaro Z/28, CTS) provide a lot more than just transportation.

I can think of a lovely couple I met at Dream Cruise who would probably agree with you. They still had their first new car

The 'haters', especially one who behave like the bunch we have around on RJ, are all the more reason to want one.

How true. Dig below the hate, and you find jealousy.

I should know. When I first bought my Trans am, I had long term friend who was a real hater. My car brought out all his bitterness and negative comments. I had enough of his poison and cut him off. Best decision ever. It freed me up to meet two guys who appreciated what I was about, and we had lots of great times together. One had a Corvette and the other a Z-28. Every weekend, we'd cruise Revere Beach or Hampton Beach in our cars and have a great time.

Enjoy the Cadillac. Life is to short to spend a minute around haters. There are not too many of them, but one in your life is too many.

Thats funny cause in the Australian version of the ad they have a Black American guy driving through NY in a (GM) Holden, pretty sure its the same vehicle we have here, a Commodore or such
