Macho always seems to connote machismo (masculine extremism). I think that there are some men who just have that "mantle" of manhood upon them. Physically, this person might look like Jason Statham, but with the temperament and wisdom of Ward Cleaver. icon_lol.gif I guess it's brawn + wisdom.

What you said about a BIG DI** = MACHO, that interest me.....what makes you think that, if you do?

Actually, yeah, OP, I think we should start by hearing what you think defines a macho man.

I think that word MACHO has turned into a cliche
but a real masculine man to me is a man who does what he
wants when he wants to do it
He enjoys life and is a bit of a daredevil
It's not about looks or body really more about attitude

Confidence, possibly even over confidence. Even a woman can be macho, for example, Hillary Clinton. I think she is macho. A guy who is macho carries him self in such a way that people might want to move out of the way as he walks down the street

Having a big dick might give a guy some over confidence but I do not see that as being a necessary characteristic for a guy who is macho.

Historically, I would say a good example of macho would be Napolean.

How a guy dresses has nothing to do with macho. For example, those guys in the video. They are all dressed in those manly outfits but they do not convey to me any machismo.

It is hard to say whether anyone is macho without meeting them in person.

If a purse falls out of a guy's mouth when he speaks, he is not macho.

If I hear someone use that cliche ever again, I'm gonna pick up that purse and beat him with it! icon_rolleyes.gif

Somebody that would do something of questionable wisdom to prove he is a macho man.

Depends on your definition I guess.

Suppose I'm pretty macho when I'm five days into a backpacking trip, unshowered, jogging 7 miles with 27 pounds on my back, feet covered in blisters...

But mostly I just felt sore.

To me, masculine is what it is.......

    To me macho is:
    bullshit
    bragging
    not masculine
frequently used to cover up insecurities and mask low self esteem
    a way of acting
not an individual's way of thinking, but wanting to belong to a group
easily transparent and easy to spot...typical way of dressing, cursing etc.
an unintelligent way for a guy to think he appears masculine
and most of all....BORING......a cliche..........and a holdover from previous generations when men thought they had to act that way.

The next time you go to an EAGLE bar, you will see what I mean.

Haha, good answer! I didn't address the OP's question in my original post, but I definitely don't meet the traditional criteria to be considered as "macho." I'm masculine enough, but I'm also sensitive, artistic and in touch with my "feminine side." I don't think anyone would accuse me of being chic (hell, I wear cotton Hanes boxer briefs, for cryin' out loud), but I do have a sense of style that at least hints at my being a queer boy.

LOL, is that why you are about to pop that bicep? Your comments are sweeping, ignorant, typical, and contemptuous verging on hateful! Noone is that bitter, your are acting so drop it. Sure, some men are big ole posers, but if you talked to people instead of judging them, you'd see that true masculinity carries with it an energy and a flavor that cannot be readily faked.
Furthermore, I don't think a person who has built up arms like yours should be slinging around words like insecurity and low self esteem.
The ultra intelligent, ultra sophisiticated, waspy, and two faced gay man who is above it all: above masculine archetypes, eventhough, a masculine man is what really gets your panties wet and you know it, bitch, is what is really a BORING...cliche... an entity of modern times by men who think they have to act that way.

Just log into the RealJock forum page and you'll see what I mean. JOCK, a word that is directly synonymous with MACHO/masculine.icon_confused.gif

If a person is a braggart, call them that. If they are fake, call them fake, but don't use a totally unrelated word like macho, which is a positive term, to describe them. The basic definition is an assertive masculine man, which is what we both are and most of the men here are, but keep bashing away, you couldn't possibly embarrass yourself more.

LOL, I had to laugh at this too: a person who's SN is Ruck_Us and who is also straining the feeling out of his bicep in his main picture professing his sensitivity, his artsy side....yack! Since when can a person not be macho and also sensitive, in touch with their feminine side, and artisitic? I looked up this word MACHO and the basic definition defines a man that exhibits assertive masculine traits. Since you already described yourself as masculine, I'm sure that if you kept going you'd describe yourself as assertive too, so what were you really about to describe yourself as? MACHO, oh god, how terrible that would have been? Actually, you describing yourself as something you are trying to downplay is what really would have made me giggle.
LOL, and the guy above you is sooo classy, especially the strip tease he is performing in his main pic. Geez, the hypocrisy is rife on this page!
Being macho is far better than being what you girls are, petty and transparent.

*cries out*.... You are too attractive to wear cotton Hanes!

Try H&M boxer briefs..... 3 for 20. (my personal favorite for value... and colorful too!)

or...D&G Boxer briefs..... lol.... 1 for $35.... but they will make you look super hot and your partner/BF will love it.
