Your thoughts: Death note

So some time ago I watched this anime cartoon called "Death note," it consists of a very clever guy who finds a notebook that fell from the "other world" to this one, with that notebook anybody could write a name, a time, and a way of dying, and that person would be dead as it was written.

In the cartoon this clever guy uses it to kill in his own judgement "bad people" I always struggled to see weather he was doing something right, or not.

So I wanna know what you guys think about it?

Is it right to kill if you kill the ones that do bad against others?

Does that it's enough of a excuse? aren't you doing the same thing as others for killing?

    but at the same time:
Isn't it what God did many times in the past?

What would you do if you had such a power like that?

What about the death penalty? is it right?

It's called Death note by the way.

Yeah, I saw the anime a few years ago and it was one of the most interesting anime I've ever seen. It was super detectives who try to predict and out think each other. They were they're super smart and best each other with logic. I would recommended others to see it.

Thank you for the correction. Definitely YES, it hooks you up in the very first episode

The main character was using the Death Note really well but he went crazy and nuts. His intentions were good but they started bad at the end. Did you finish the anime by the way? I don't want to spoil it for you.

I love Death Note. Read all 13 volumes. Saw the two live action movies. Haven't seen a lot of the anime though. It certainly challenges the reader's ethics and moral values. No one is necessarily "right" or "wrong", just "different".

I think I missed only like tha last 4 chapters, I don't mind you spoiling it for me, however, it would be rude to spoil the rest of Real Jock

How can you justify killing? even if it's for the good? aren't you acting evil as well?

    Define "Different"

Leaving it to just "different" would be too much a way to escape the fact that you really can't tell if it's right or wrong

It's justifiable to kill in self-defense or to save other people from an extreme hostile situation. The main character went morally grey and killed too many innocent people in order to keep his secret safe, that made his less sympathetic as the series progresses. I didn't think he was a good person at the end of the series, he had better intentions when he started off as a teenager. Holy heck, he went power hungry and wanted to become, "God Of The New World."

The premise of this cartoon reminds me of Dexter.

I love anime and will have to look for that movie.
I suppose it would be okay to do such a thing if you had really good judgment but I'd hate to be in that position.
Of course, the really bad people being killed would have to be killing other people themselves to justify it - not just selling used cars or starring in reality TV!

I think that there are movies (that I haven't watched) and there is an anime series of about 38-40 chapters something like that, it's pretty awesome you should check it out

Death Note is such an old anime but definitely a classic worth watching. I loved how creepy and oddly smart this whole show was. Unfortunately the ending wasnt as good as the rest of the anime. You should watch Attack On Titan, youll probably like that one too.

That anime certainly wasn't without controversy. I was upset with the ending. I hated those detectives sooooo much.

Unless the main characters name is "O5vx" you have nothing to worry about.

But have you thought that you could be saving many more people by getting those criminals away from society?

What if somebody killed your mother? would be fair killing back then?

Never seen the anime but I've read and own the manga and I love it! icon_biggrin.gif It's a really good mind-game story with no filler basically.
