I just had to ignore someone posting because they're creationists. I can't have people that stupid in my life, my brain doesn't need the nonsense

There's a lot of lame posting here. And a noticeable number of fundie christians. I tend to just pass over what they post if it's something to do with religion, and save my ignore button for a couple of really obnoxious guys - the crazy or insulting ones. Do you teat ordinary christian/islamic believers the same as creationists? (which often you would not know unless you interacted with them).

I'm afraid you might be on the wrong forum if you're trying to avoid stupid. RJ has a lot of trolls.

I have zero on forum block/ignore, though I know quite a few block me. Mainly because it does little good - when others quote them I see their stuff anyway. Or I only see incomplete parts of a discussion, which can be annoying.

I do block email, however. From guys who sometimes try to continue a thread argument in private, or initiate one, with even worse insults than they could post in a forum, even with not-so-veiled threats.

That's an old count. I'm up to 139 since then. Though in my defense, a number of those are the same assholes who come back under different screen names.

I have no one on ignore - not even self-righteous arrogant Athiests (as opposed to open-minded Aethiests).
I don't believe in creationism but if someone else believes it, more power to him. I'm not so insecure that everybody has to think like me.
The gay community will never be successful. We turn on each other much too easily. We beat dead horses forever.

Wow Edward, that's a lot! Isn't that almost 1/2 of the RJ forum community?

I don't see the point in blocking someone on a forum. On a social networking site, sure. But on RJ, I would hate to miss parts of a discussion and not understand what someone is talking about because I can't see certain posts. I have enough security in my own beliefs that I don't rage over another person's opinion on the Internet.

It will still be unclear what other users are talking about if they are responding to the blocked person's message.

It can be funny when someone says something stupid. If you're trying to be intrigued, I don't think this is the place.

I haven't blocked anyone yet for posting stupid topics. I am guilty and I do it purposely. LOL!

As long as they don't send me e-mails, I am okay.

    Gotta lighten up. icon_wink.gif

You really blocked someone just for being a creationist? I'm an atheist myself, but I wouldn't advise ignoring someone for holding creationist views.

I blocked that Martin guy. So annoying. But the problem is that his forum posts are so easily identifiable because they are always in all caps (as if they are more important any other thread that any one else makes), so it's like I don't actually escape him.
