Didn't even turn the tv on last night as my almost-ex and I were involved in another room of the house.

I'll just paste myself from a parallel thread on this disaster:

Her performance reminded me of a sloppy drunk at a disco who only thinks she's dancing, complete with goofy faces as she makes a fool of herself. An uncomfortable situation where you're hoping Security will intervene to ask the tipsy "lady" to remove herself in deference to the other patrons.

Who in gawd's name designed that awful production, and who choreographed it? A chaotic subway platform at rush hour would have flowed better than that uncoordinated mob. Hint: don't expect teddy bears saddled with giant stuffed-head blinders to dance in unison. The appalled reaction of the genuinely talented entertainers in the audience is really all the critique anyone needs for that mess.

NOTE: VIACOM has been blocking this video on YouTube, probably for more reasons than just copyright. Not sure how long this can be seen.

It was when she took off her one piece is when it started going down hill. icon_confused.gif

Once again, as repeated throughout history, black music/dance culture is appropriated by a white performer who massively profits from it.

I've been doing that a lot lately (saves time):

She did it for the publicity.

In fact, when I opened the internet and saw the story on my MSN homepage I just had to log onto RealJock to see how many threads had already been created on the already much-publicized subject. I predict two more Miley-VMA threads by day's end.

Had to watch this as I always need to be informed/ see whats happening to have an opinion. I feel that as usual this shows how much all of those in the video could be gone tomorrow and they wouldn't have any real effect on the world by their absence. I didn't see much redeeming value in anything in these clips. icon_rolleyes.gificon_neutral.gif

LMAO! Wonderful! Yeah, didn't anybody at MTV realize that costume was what Michael Keaton wore in Beetlejuice? Was it intentional?

    BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE!! BEETLEJUICE!!!

    Damn, they're still there. icon_razz.gif

LMAO! I've always said the same thing about New Orleans Mardi Gras. Where are the fundamentalists clamoring that "show us your tits" for beads be banned? Oh, that's right, they're straight moralists, what oversexed straight guys do with women is always excusable. icon_rolleyes.gif

On a STAGE? Oh my, you naughty boy! (From New Orleans, it should be noted) But then they do say all the world's a stage.

Quoting Ron Ziegler, President Nixon's press secretary: "I can neither confirm nor deny that rumor."

    Exact-a-latte.

Sidenote: Miley is too much of a try-hard these days; it's cringey.

I've watched Miley's performance a couple more times. I think I really like it. It is so edgy and out there. However, she did copy a few moves from Niki Manoj and Rihana, so I think she needs to work on creating her own persona, but all-in-all, I think it completely obliterated the Hana Montana shadow she had trailing her and made a huge statement that she is no Selina Gomez or Taylor Swift. But will she turn out to be another psychitzophrenic Britney, is yet to be seen.
