What are your all time favorite scary / suspenseful / freaky movies? Not necessarily gorey but the kind of movies that keep you at the edge of your seat and make you jump.

A few that come to mind are:

    The Fog (original version)
    The Mist
    The Others
    The Ring
    One Missed Call (Japanese version)
    30 Days of Night
    Cloverfield
    War of the Worlds

"the descent" is by far THE best scary movie i've ever had the pleasure of viewing; nothing better than a good old girl-only-spelunking-expedition-gone-wrong horror/thriller! icon_biggrin.gif

OH! A fan of "The Descent!" I found one! lol It was a very good movie. A lot of parts were sad, and I found a lot of symbolism in the movie. Really cool!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - was about 12 when I saw it in the theatre at a midnight double feature. I got the shakes. Only movie I've ever gotten the shakes from.

    Fallen - w/Denzal Washington

    Amityville Horror

The Thing (not the original, the one from the 80's) Kurt Russell

Halloween - the creepy part was Jason's mom.

The Shining - most creepy moment "All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy."

Pulp Fiction - it was freaky

    Aliens

    Invasion of the Body Snatchers

The original "The Thing" (not the 1982 remake, so my buddy Ohiker and I totally disagree on this one.... :-) )

    "Rosemary's Baby"

    "The Shining"

"Diabolique" (the French version with subtitles....scared the living bejesus out of me)

    "Alien"

"The Haunting of Hill House" (meninlove has a couple of clips from that)

Actually, I thought Cloverfield was pretty good too. But most of the modern horror flicks have too much blood and gore, and leave nothing to the imagination. One movie that was widely panned that I thought had some good concepts that went astray with too much family values stuff....but wonderful cinematography and music, was "Signs".

my vote for freaky is 'necromantik'. A love-story along the lines of guy meets girl... guy meets corpse... girl dumps guy for corpse. disturbing.... just disturbing.

and 'necromantik 2:return of the loving dead'. yeah... it did that good to warrant a sequel. ew...

How about this for deliciously freaky: David Cronenberg's Crash from 1996.

    SCARY:
    The Exorcist
    The Descent

    Psycho (the original 1960 version)

    SUSPENSEFUL:
    Silence of the Lambs
    The Sixth Sense
    Seven
    The Game
    The Bone Collector

    FREAKY:
    π
Eraserhead (so freaky that I won't see it again!)
    Akira
    Memento
    Altered States
