I plan to get one. Never owned a Smartphone. Want something that can still fit in your pocket and discrete, as much as the big ass Samsungs might look great, its a bit too much.

Plus the apps look better on the iPhone.

What are the upgrades/differences between the 1-5 and the new ones?

The 5C (if predictions about naming the new models are correct) will have reduced features for a lower price. Probably a plastic body instead of aluminum, and less processing power & memory, maybe a weaker camera. It may be primarily for the Asian market, so not sure when or if the US would see it.

I'll look into the (presumed) 5S. I've gotten a new iPhone model every year for the previous 4 years, so it's become something of a pattern. We also have a 4S we'll retire, and a 5 we'll keep in service, which will simplify charging, both 5 & 5S using the same Lightning connection.

A big change will be in iOS 7, altering the look & operation of all iPhones from the 4 onward. I'll likely have iOS 7 downloaded before I decide if I want a "5S" or whatever it's called.

Well, external wise, its pretty much the same as the iPhone 5 today.

Inside, its gotta faster A7 CPU expected to be 64 bit. The 5 is currently using a A6 32 bit processor. It is said to handle the animations and other graphically intense features in iOS7.

    - Dual flash camera.
    - More RAM.

Come in different shades: Gold, Graphite, Slate and White.

iPhone 5C will pretty much be a cheaper version of the iPhone targeting China I believe hence the 'C'. It should have the same internals as the current iPhone 5, but use a cheaper plastic design.

most likely the 5C will have the exact same specs of the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 and 4 will probably be discontinued and Apple will sell the 5C in their place but priced somewhere in between these price ranges.

Where is the great new capability or "killer app" that would make me want to upgrade (from iPhone4)? I'm not feeling it. Maybe if/when LTE becomes available in my area. Maybe not.

I am happy with my 4, so I wont upgrade to iOS7 when it comes out in a few weeks and I'm not buying a 5S.

When I'm ready for a new phone, I may get an iPhone if they have changed the interface, but I like the new Moto X.

5c - the aluminum body is too light and fragile. I have a 5 but I like the feel of my 3s better.

Unless Apple enlarges the screen size to 4.9 or 5.0, I doubt I'll get one. I switched from an iPhone to Galaxy s4 a few months ago due to getting tired of waiting for Apple to sell a larger phone. If they do, I might consider switching back.

I am getting the Graphite 5S if turns out to be true. This will be my first Smartphone, so I am excited. iPhone 5 users can probably wait until the 6S whenever that comes out.

The thing, it iPhone is now a mature product, it has a great ecosystem and I believe its just reach a point where its all about refinement.

Initially, I said I would choose that, but its a bit too bling-bling for me. The Graphite looks more conservative and stronger. Hopefully its more scratch resistant.

We've gotta have 'em the day they come out. Otherwise our kids will tease us mercifully as old fashioned. (Also, since we own a technology company, we show off the latest iPhones and iPads generally.)

I would never buy anything from Apple. If someone were to give me one I'd throw it away.

the best part about it you'll finally be able to hookup with guys via Grindr. You'll be like "how did I ever live without this?"

It feels to light. The soft aluminum corners bash up really easy. My 3c with the stainless steel frame is way more durable and that is why the competition copied it.
