I happen to have a very muscular calves. I think it is because since highschool, i walked everywhere I go. It's not fat, but its muscle. I'm trying to slim it down because it is very tight on my calves area when i wear my jeans. I'm trying to find new exercise that will help me slim it down. Does anybody have the same problem? Any exercise suggestions?

Any exercise will just make them bigger. Embrace your genetics man. Let them be muscular. You'll get a lot of attention. icon_biggrin.gif

In order to determine what exercises would help the most, we need to see them. Please post pics taken from various angles.

Take up bicycling. That'll make your calves really small.

I have huge calves too and show them off as often as possible and barely work them out ever beyond what they get from cardio/walking 1 set of calf work per week. I don't have the huge biceps that some guys get even with an awesome routine and diet. Muscle shapes are genetic!!!

short answer: maybe you should try getting different jeans.

long answer: only way to make a muscle smaller is to stop using it. I would not recommend that you stop using your calf muscles.

Major alcoholism will eat away all your muscle ... There are guys going up and down on their toes all day just trying to build up their calves just a little, so their legs won't look like toothpicks ... Consider yourself lucky.

There ain't no way to do it ... It's hereditary.

There are people who kill themselves in the gym to get bigger calves.

I have the same situation as you. My calves are muscular and huge. Even when the rest of me was fat, my calves were pure muscle - I guess because they were supporting all my weight.

I don't think there's anything you can do about it. Do you feel they make your body look out of proportion?

i dont think so. since i started working out, my whole body has become muscular so its in proportion.

i dont think that i necesarily have to stop using it lol. my calves is a muscular has in its muscle but i know it has fat as well. if i do workouts that targets my calves, it can probably slim it down because it will be burning the fat. i'm just basing these from what i've read lol

Most calves will slim down if they consume less milk.

Seriously, your problem is solved by buying pants that fit your legs better.

spot reduction is a myth. exercising a certain part of your body doesn't make you lose fat *at that spot*. you can't just pick and choose where you lose fat. if it was that easy everyone would be walking around with six pack abs.
