So why should I care about being a "real" man?

I have noticed that society seems to shame men into acting a certain way. Even in these forums there is often talk about not wanting feminine men. Well, I don't know about any of you but I am not interested. I personally give as much about being a "real" man as the poo that comes out of my ass. At the end of the day its simply nonsense. Anyone agree?

    Nature & Nurture
One who's aware of this will ignore those terms(real, feminine, etc.,.) completely.
And if they still continue using it, they are not aware of it in its full meaning.

You have a point there, because it depends always on where you are. For example, in greek times having no pube hair made you effeminate even if you were a stud, while for romans having a goatee was sissy... So you will never end up liking everyone in the world, that's why you have to be happy with who you are.

Females are encouraged to be masculine too. It's not just males.

To answer your title question, you shouldn't and no one else should either. Being a man should only be defined by the individual and if no one else likes it, that's too bad for them.

Just be who you are and open and honest with yourself, thats been my motto. Most of the guys that go on and on about masculinity are either scared little boys, afraid of what they see in the mirror. Or they are just pretending.

In the end the race is with yourself, be who ever YOU are.

I can understand what you mean because I get the same kind of thing at times for the way I am. But even if I do get discredited because I'm not the ideal of masculine, I just don't let it bother me. People will judge you for anything, especially in the gay world (in my experience). But at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself. Assuming you are okay with how you are, is it really worth changing yourself just to please criticizers what you want. Me personally, I think not. icon_smile.gif

Like GTA5 said, do what you like. I'll put myself out there. Why do I wear predominantly black? Because I like it. Why do I wear my hair the way I do? Because I like it. Why do I wear underbust corsets? Because I want to and like them. I understand that a lot of my personal tastes don't scream masculine tough macho man but I don't care. I'm living for myself. icon_smile.gif

But that's just my 2 cents.
