Tomorrow is my birthday, another year older and time to reflect again. So I was wondering about my fellow brothers on RJ. Do you prefer a quiet celebration at home or a restaurant with your bf/husband and a few friends or a loud celebration at a club? Or if you are single do you just feel like being alone or out celebrating with friends?

I've decided to combine both quiet time and celebration time this weekend.

Single here. I like going out celebrating with friends in our yearly tradition - a night of curling at the rink after getting dinner out. How much more Canadian does it get? icon_cool.gif

I prefer a bbq or going out to dinner with family and friends. I use to enjoy getting a table at a club and getting wasted, but got tired of the hang over and not remembering the night, lol.

My birthday is mid-summer, so it's a good excuse for an annual barbecue at the house. I don't care much about the actual birthday part - it's just fun to get a bunch of friends over to hang out in the backyard. icon_smile.gif

Happy Birthday ChicagoSteve!! I hope your enjoy you quiet and celebratory time. icon_biggrin.gif

Aristoshark saidI don't care about birthdays. I kicked my ex out on my 50th birthday and haven't celebrated one since then. It was a lousy 50th. No one did anything.

That's not really fair to you.. icon_confused.gif

I don't celebrate my birthday, it's just another normal day. Only few people who remember the date wishes me. Usually they my family and very few friends.

happy birthday buddy, I prefer the club/party scene when I was younger. My birthday is coming in around mid-October. I think I'm just having dinner with a couple people, then go to San Diego on a trip! I try to do fun thing every year! I may bring a guy along this year.

The bf and I go to a 4 star restaurant....just he and I. My only request is that the waitstaff does NOT sing happy birthday to me. I don't want to sound like a dick, but the singing is tacky and quite annoying.

I usually go dinner with my bf and celebrate with friend in a pub on the weekend (so I dont get cake or anything). Also the restaurant we go with my bf is not a fancy one just some nice place with nice food!

Well first, happy birthday! I hope its an awesome Friday and weekend birthday celebration!

For me, each year is different. I've had big birthday parties and quieter times with family, with my partner and just in thought. We've always had some kind of "family celebration" with a cake, gifts and maybe a dinner with my father and other family members (certainly when my mother was still alive). I had one birthday in Toronto at the top of the CN Tower, which was awesome. This year was a quiet one with a dinner... but my birthday was in the middle of the week. I always say, always (always) take some time and do something special for yourself, something different than you normally do with your daily routine, whether that is a special purchase or doing something for yourself you would classify as "special". It is, afterall, your birthday. Make it "your" day!

I'm no longer 10 years old, birthdays are nothing but another day. If you celebrate after age 10 you should question just what sort of attention whore you have become.

For the big birthdays (40/50/60) took major trips to new or favorite places, usually in Europe.

For regular ones though, don't usually make it a big deal. One is coming up in just a couple weeks and will treat a few friends to a tapas style dinner combining it with my farewell to summer in Vancouver party as I will be off to Palm Springs shortly after.

Funny, how this is EXACTLY how I pictured what your legs looked like. Not only on your birthday, but every day of the year.

    Happy birthday ChicagoSteve!

To answer the question, I prefer a quiet celebration with just a few close friends. Don't much like being the center of attention.

quiet, with the people i care about most (my family). that's the most special to me.

it can be a home cooked meal or at a restaurant, but the company is what matters most.
