    To answer the OP's question, yes and no. You don't choose your religion as a child, it's forced upon you. As you get older, however, you clearly have a choice as to whether or not you continue to follow it.

    Yeah, it is a choice.

    That's why churches start their indoctrination at 4-5 years old. A Catholic Bishop once remarked, "If we can get them as kids, we'll have them for life."

    This early exposure sets up neural pathways in the brain. Very difficult to reverse. How ironic is it that kids cannot open a bank account on their own...but are commonly encouraged to devote their souls to some religious figure.
