There is so little, if any tone of voice to texting i just had to mention it to possibly mend relationships because you couldn't fathom where the other person is coming from or "hear em" for that matter.

There are different emphasis for font based on your school of thought yes but unless you're talking about animated smiley's the rare occasion a letter will literally have inflection is maybe within a conversation where you ask a person about their sense of humor before talking to them at all.

    but words have meanings..

These Meanings strung together in a sentence would express thoughts and emotions..

    Eg
In your opinion what am I trying to express

'How could you do this to me'
    ^ ^ ^ ^
If I saw those words written .. I would automatically assume .."betrayal" and then in turn process corresponding emotions or reactions.

    Betrayal= Anger,Sadness,etc

    What is your opinion??

You've been communicating for some time now, some people don't know how to do that with such words.

Books will always add descriptions such as, "he said with sarcasm" if that is what is needed to make a a sentence clear. We don't usually do that with texting.
Also, not anyone can write a book. You need talent for that in order to make everything clear that is being written.

"Oh youuuu," he responded in a kind fatherly tone, well knowing the rambunctious but innocuous nature of his handsome but recalcitranct associate.

Sometimes I'm self-conscious when I text in public because I'm afraid the clicking noise will annoy people.

Do you like the keypad too? I was obsessed with it then I learned about skins for the keypad on a touchscreen. I just like how the keypads slide out like a mini computer. It doesn't get any better than customizeable responsive sensors though.

Books tend to be written by writers, or people who have a firm grasp of the language he or she is writing in. Most people that read and write texts do not have this same grasp and so there is a good chance of misunderstanding.

hmm, I actually do feel that its difficult to convey tone through texting without the help of emoticons. 'How could you do this to me' could be expressed with multiple intentions apart from the feeling of betrayal. What if you were joking and being dramatic? You could still use the same sentence but you wouldn't really be able to convey the same emotion through text as opposed to it being said in person. icon_smile.gif

I think you are referring to mainly Novels or "Story type" literature.

    ..
But really..the structure of any sentence are words..
Without flare,or embellishments..the basic meaning still shines through.

My point is..A word on it's own has a visual representation.

    Agree.

My ex bf/FWB/whatever-the-hell-we-are-today and I had several misunderstandings/mixed signals/misinterpretations because texting could not adequately display our dry, semi-sarcastic sense of humors & personalities.
