Extreme chest pain, difficulty breathing. Doctors could find nothing wrong. EKG perfectly normal. It has Me considering life and death, It could go in a nano second - for no real reason

Tell doctors to keep making tests, just in case. Could that also be that you're anxious, nervous or something like that?

Consider it a warning shot from your body. Something you're dealing with is unbearable, causing you to much stress. High time to get out of that situation if you can.

    This &
Where was the pain in the chest? Could you describe its location, character(sharp/blunt), what were you doing when the pain started? And shift in location of the pain? What food you had before? Was the pain relieved if you change your body position? How long did it last? Etc. Try to write down on a paper, like a personal record, it'll be very helpful for the diagnosis...

Sometimes a person could have an arterial spasm that when it releases, it isn't detectable. Heart attacks, and I'm not saying it was one, but they happen to people with normal cholesterol levels as well as people with high levels. There's other things to look at besides standard blood tests, and I suggest an integrative/alternative doctor who will try and look for the root cause to try and prevent this, not just react afterwards if you survive.

Yea, I would keep looking into it. Went to medical assistant school and they always told me four major pains to not ignore and chest pains is one of them.

An integrative cardiologist in Manhattan is Patrick Fratellone, MD, who used to work with Dr. Richard Ash, also in Manhattan, Dr. Andrew Weil in Arizona, and the late Dr. Robert Atkins. I highly recommend Dr. Fratellone or Dr. Ash, who I have been seeing since the beginning of the year.

    Oh no!

If your heart is OK, it could be anxiety of some sort. I am so sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself. If there is anything I can do from (from afar), please let me know. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

How much do I hate that I had to veiw your profile to see how old you are now--scared for you being to young for this.
Had a similar thing a few years back, stupidly throwing myself back into the gym like I was still 25.
Called my GP to schedule a Cardiac stress test.
It was sorta funny because the clerk took down my information and I had no sooner hung up before the Doc, called back herself, telling me to call 911.
Long story short: I calmed her down and had the stress test a week later; with contrast when they didn't find anything, because I had Cadillac insurance.
Best they could find or say is "Angina"--Stress nothing more; all though I didn't feel I was under any more or less stress then at any other time in my life.
What was strange is after all the testing, it never happened again; in fact, I'd forgotten about it till reading this.
Get tested, for piece of mind...sure you're fine.

A high percentage of people admitted to emergency rooms for unexplained chest pain, difficulty breathing and feelings of dying are in fact Panic Attacks. They are not to be confused with generalized "anxiety" as they surface much differently and the feelings are much more severe. Not saying this is you but it's something to check out.

This is what I thought as well, when reading it. I've had them and they are frightening, and easy to confuse with an actual cardiac or respiratory event.

All the same, best to get a full physical to be on the safe side.

Take care and feel better!!! So sorry that you had to experience something traumatic like that. icon_sad.gif
