Weirdness About Nicknames?

so this guy I was talking to a while back was all very interested in getting to know me and going on a date or see a movie... Until he found out about the nickname I used at work for a two way radio handle. That nickname is Sky. When pressed, he said that "only a certain type of guy would let people call him sky and that it probably wouldn't work out between us". Bear in mind I'd never even met the guy in person at this point. Is there something I should know about my use of Sky as a nickname or was this guy just a douche?

Strange. Most guys I know who's parents named them Schuyler go by "Sky."

I actually think that's a really cool nickname. The guy was just a jerk.
Why should someone's nickname influence your willingness to date them? It shouldn't.

    Yeah, he's a douche.

But just for fun tell him it's spelled Scye and see how he reacts.

I'm not making fun of you but with the way half of this group flies off the handle over so little (for instance using a single word they dislike) I cannot find this surprising.

just a sidenote: i'd already decided that he was a douche and blocked him on Scruff 6 months ago when this all went down but i got a new device and a new account and seeing his profile again reminded me of it. So its nice to get a little confirmation, haha.

And yeah, one of the waiters at the restaurant i work for is super-prejudiced against feminine guys. In his own words, his "type" has to be "100% masc". I on the other hand am perfectly fine settling for 50% icon_cool.gif

It's 1982. I'm at a family reunion in South Florida where the Eugene, Oregon contingent has RV'd, introducing their three year old daughter "Skye." Says old woman with Yiddish accent - "Skye?"

I guess you had to be there.

Maybe he means that he is super "down to earth" and would never touch the Sky.

He might be shallow if he has an issue with a radio handle.
