Ab workout frequency

    I know that after a workout, you need to give your body 2-3 days to get rested and recovered (someone correct me if I am wrong), but what about abs? I seem to remember being told by my trainer years ago that the abdominals can be worked out everyday without the risk of over training. Is that accurate? Or, am I wasting my time or hindering my progress?

    That is false. There was a really good article on here somewhere about ab exercises. The abs are like any other muscle, they need time to recover.

    work 'em twice a week, but you won't see 'em until you get nice and lean!

    Abs are one of the few muscles in our body that can be worked on a daily basis
    I have been using a short version of an ab workout for my warmup and cool down for years

    I keep it to 2 or 3 times a week and treat them like any other muscle, even in terms of weight/reps/sets. For example, I don't do 400 sit ups. I do 3 sets of crunches at 8-10 reps with heavy weight resistance.
    (That's partially because I'm lazy and don't have the patience or attention span to do 400.)

    I have my abs trained once a week for about 45min to an hour.
    But I always do at least 1-2 abs exsercises with every other training I do... don't know if its the best thing to do, but it sure works for me

    the abs are your core, and get the best circulation of any body part- they can be worked out every day- just make sure you rest and eat right.
    seems to work for me in any case.
    especially the crippling pilates routines supplemented with yoga to stretch 'em out..
