AIDS vaccine created at OHSU may clear virus from body

    Excerpt
An HIV vaccine created by researchers at Oregon Health & Science University may be able to completely wipe out the AIDS-causing virus from the body, the university announced Wednesday.
The vaccine, under development at OHSU's Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute, is being tested by using a primate form of HIV, called SIV, which causes AIDS in monkeys.
Researchers hope an HIV-form of the vaccine candidate will soon be able to be tested in humans.

    One step closer!

let's hope that big pharma does not crush it. after all, hiv meds are big business in this country as are cancer treatments.

It seems like they've been on the verge of creating AIDS vaccines for the past decade... I'll save my opinion until it's tested on humans and works.

just think how much cash they'll be able to squeeze out of folks with this little beauty though, especially if it's a vaccine that prevents hiv infection - national rollouts, government money....ker-fucking-CHING!!

    That's awesome!

Is it made of orange juice?

(I know that was a terrible joke. I prefer waiting for a real medically sound cure. I'm just crazy that way.)

This is like the third "close to vaccine/cure" thing they've come out with in the past couple of months. Just wait until one actually works

I've been waiting 29 years now. I'm not jaded or cynical about a cure or vaccine. I'm sure we will eventually have one. I have learned not to put false hope into any particular "hyped" cure or vaccine because to date, none have proven effective.

Treatments, however, do work. My advice to any person who has been infected with HIV is to get onto treatment sooner rather than later.

Prevention is what I suggest as most effective.

With each failure one gets a step closer to succeeding.
