I'm only 23 and my friends are around the same age so marriage doesn't come up often but I remember one of my friends saying that when he gets married and i'm best man, we gotta have one last dance off. I thought that was funny because I didn't know that happens, but apparently it does

If you were the best man or grooms men at your friends wedding (straight or gay) what dance would you do? or music would you dance to? lol

Lol weddings are expensive. I think the days of just kissing the bride/groom and running off to the honeymoon are a little over lol

The YOUTUBE Generation definitely has spawned many new traditions; First it was the Choreographed Wedding Party Dance and it looks like this is the next step.

That's cool. If my friend decides to marry his girl and ask me to come up with a routine with him i'll definitely do it for fun.

although i'm not sure if it would've been a bit awkward if i did that at a gay wedding lol

Everyone dances with everyone at a wedding. Gay, straight, male, female. It is part of the ritual. Bonds the friends and families in celebration of the union. I've danced with nephews, grandmothers, brides, grooms, awkward teenagers, and I've even danced with toddlers so the parents could dance. Oh, and I've danced with my partner Alex at several straight weddings even here in the South. If ya don't dance, yer jus no fun.

    Best man 5 times
    Dance off winner 3 times
-but only because I refused to break dance in my dress uniform.
Even taught one wedding party the 'Achy Breaky' to be performed at the reception--don't judge.

Yes, if you don't Dance, you are NO fun!!!

You guys have never attended a Roman Catholic wedding reception in New Orleans?

By the second hour of the catered reception the priest is dancing with one of the bridesmaids, the groom & the best man are shooting schnapps & dancing with each other and the bride has passed out behind the punch bowl.

    A few observations:

    1. A HUGE, undeclared "Bromance" goin' on here.

    2. The groom will be caught in the marital bed with his bromancer by the new wife within 3 years' time.

    3. The dark haired, "height challenged" bromancer is kinda cute in his own quirky way. Ya'll ever notice that the short guys have excellent doner DNA for naturally pleasing-to-the-eye bodies?

    3. The young blond boy is already showing signs of latent gayness.

I didn't know there ever were those days. Except maybe for a wedding chapel quickie. Every formal wedding I've attended for the last 50 years has had a reception with dancing, including my own. Except in movies I've never seen the newlyweds drive off from the church directly to their honeymoon, without a reception first. I'm sure it's happened, but I'm not sure that's ever been the norm.

And the dance is a ritual. The newlyweds dance first, alone, to applause. Then the bride dances with her father, or whoever else brought her down the aisle. The groom dances with his new mother-in-law, and other female inlaws. And so it goes.

Though I've never seen men dancing together, except at a gay wedding. Women have always been permitted to dance together, and without the presumption it makes them lesbians. A curious social convention in Western culture.

As I said above, a catered Roman Catholic wedding reception here in New Orleans provides for some excellent entertainment!

Esp if you are a light drinker as I am. Being the only sober/semi-sober person in a room full of happy drunks-on-free-booze is often quite delightful icon_exclaim.gif

Perhaps I am slightly prejudiced; but I truly believe that "Native New Orleanians" often express a certain "joy of life" that is sadly lacking in other American cities?

that's basically what he's saying lol. But this is a good reminder to not judge a book by its cover

Art deco- its pretty common to see everyone dancing together. I think it really depends more on whether the people are comfortable with it.
