    Like:

    1. Construction
    2. Plumbing
    3. Maintenance
    4. Driving big trucks
    5. Automotive Repair/Technology
    6. And all other jobs that require great strength and toughness

Last year, I worked for this hotel for about a week helping the maintenance guy pull out televesion sets from each room and replace it with flat screen tvs. I am a little guy and small framed so my body after a week's worth really ached. I did my job properly but after the experience, I wanted to cry.

I feel like I was forced to do something that I really dont wanna do. Yes I am a guy, but I dont get why some people assume right away that I am meant to do certain things because of whats between my legs. I had no choice but to say yes when my stepdad asked me if i wanted to help out and get paid for it. I didnt have a job that time and I feel so pressured and so I said yes.

But really deep inside me, I wanted to tell him "no. i dont wanna do it. not for the money. not for anything..." and i dont want to explain myself any further. i just dont wanna do it.

I dig deep into myself. I am just not comfortable doing these jobs. I feel like I cannot be totally myself if I am digging roads or being under a car repairing it. but sometimes, i have no choice and i hate it so much when i end up doing what other people expect me to do just because im a guy. i dont look down on these jobs (these are great jobs but theyre not for me), i just dont like doing it. like how some guys dont wanna be a fashion designer.

I am just not comfortable carrying heavy stuff and doing things society expects me to be able to do. Like yea I am a guy but that does mean I can drive a bulldozer or I can play basketball.

Does anybody else feel this way? Is it okay to choose what you do in your life? Do we have options? Is it rude to say no to someone offering you a job that you dont like or not comfortable doing?

Please dont misunderstand this in any way... I am just explaining what I feel and I cant express myself enough to make this sound less ignorant or indifferent... also most guys in these fields, are REALLY HOT... so yea... icon_smile.gif

You should have complete control of your choices... BUT, you have to work towards/earn it.

I'm the complete opposite of you but I understand.

If you are in a scenario where you need to get a job to bridge your income.. Try to find a job that you'll love before your dad picks one out for you?

Was lifting a few T.V. sets that traumatizing?

it was traumatizing because the the maintenance guy was a DICK! he scolded me on my third day and he was like "hey man! weve been doing this for 3 days! THINK!" and it was too much for. but its more than that. i dont even wanna go back to that hotel... :C

    Ahh I see..
That kind of negative resistance on the job can really mess with you.

..No matter where you work there will be that "Token Dickhead".. People that test your limits to see how far they can push you!

..If you need to improve the quality of your work..or your pace..That is what he should have said without being condescending!

I've done contracts before where folks were complete bitches the minute I met them..

This is how I handle Mean Folks.. (Inner thoughts.. Say this stuff out loud and you'll get the boot!)

*This guy is definitely the one with the three inch penis!
*This girl's other car is her vagina!

Hunt for a better job..and you have to toughen up a bit to ward off those assholes icon_smile.gif

If you don't want to do it, then don't

It may take sometime, but find a job that you enjoy to do. It'll never exhaust you.

Of course you don't have to do these jobs. I'm going to be a nurse which has a very high female to male ratio. I was born and raised in Oklahoma and for example, I never felt pressured into working on an oil rig or becoming a welder.
