Didn't care much for the first one, but friend wanted to see the 2nd one so I went with her.

I dunno what it is, but lately all I can do is laugh at horror movies. I thought The Conjuring was funny and sucked, mainly because of the religious propaganda towards the end but that's another story. It seems like the same ideas are just rehashed into a new hollywood movie year after year. So and so is possessed, there's an evil spirit forcing a family member to kill people, someone died in a house and is haunting it, etc.

My friend, on the other hand, was screaming and freaking out, and at one point she actually ran out of the theater. I won't deny she's a bit overdramatic and gets scared easily, but I just didn't see why it was so scary. The 'ghosts' were regular people with a lot of makeup on, and for like the first hour, they just walked around out of the sight of the protagonists who were getting scared from hearing noises. Same old story..

For those of y'all who have seen it, what did y'all think?

I just watched it and I liked it. When it comes to movies, I feel like I have to let my brain go a little and give in to enjoying the ride as is intended. I think if you have an ever wandering imagination, you're likely to have thought out a million scenarios already such that the element of being surprised isn't possible. I also liked The Conjuring too. I enjoy movies that play on the "there's something in my room... over in the dark... can you see it too?" experience.

I have not seen it yet but do plan to. I know what you mean though....scary movies do not make me scared anymore. They may get a jump or two out of me, but even that has become fewer and farther apart. My theory is having grown up in the 80's with all the horror movies from that time and with the gore factor that came with many of those and with current movies like SAW and Final Destination......my sense of horror has become desensitized.

Insidious chapter one was the little horror movie that could and was actually very good . Came out of nowhere and surprised the fuck out of us and It's my personal first exp with a movie about astral projection , he conjuring was another good one really enjoyed the times , insidious chapter 2 I liked and will probably purchase for my movie collection . As far as for them being funny. Well they were made that way. You always need comic relief in any story . Now that that's out of the way
If you want a serious horror film that will make you feel dirty and won't have you laughing check out
    Wolf's creek
    Martyrs(French film)
