Hey everyone! I'm working on a campaign for an organization called Pride over Richmond, a nonprofit committed to making the former capital of the confederacy a more LGBT-friendly place for Richmonders and travelers to VA.

We're trying to gain some insight in to what people currently think about Richmond, if you have a minute or two I would really appreciate it if you took our very short 10 question survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TK8DFBT

    ------------

What do you guys think about the notion that there are "LGBT destinations"?

Looking at these lists from CMI's 2012 LGBT Travel Survey, it seems they would be almost identical to a non-sexual oriented list of top US travel destinations. I mean, I guess there is a lower incidence of LGBT couples with kids (even though that is changing), so a destination's kid-friendliness might come in to play. I don't know, I guess when I travel "gay-friendliness" is not top of mind consideration, but I could be in the minority. Is that a major consideration for you guys?

I would guess that the above are popular destinations for gays just because they offer a lot to explore for any visitor gay or straight (and there are significant gay populations and some "gaylife" in most of them - I don't know about Orlando though). All of them are considerably larger than Richmond.

I'm surprised that Provincetown and Key West are not included, as they are primarily gay resort destinations, and very popular.

Puppenjunge - I only included the top 10; Provincetown ranked 20th and Key West was 14th. BUT, both of those places were ranked top 10 for "LGBT-friendly" according to the survey results, #4 and #7 respectively.
