I want darker skin, but I don't want to expose my skin to a sunbed or use those awful tanning creams, I want to make my skin look naturally darker, anybody have any tips or suggestions on how to achieve this?

Tea bags residue rubbed into my skin? Eat tons of carrots, run more?

Well, there is this injectable stuff called "melanotan" that stimulates your cells to tan without sunlight. It is a synthetic version of the hormone that actually turns on melanin production. Reportedly also stimulates male erections. (Or maybe they just like the way they look.) As far as I know, there is no legal way to buy it in most countries though. The patent owners may be working on a product, which will surely cost a fortune, but I don't know. Bootleg stuff is out there, but I wouldn't inject it icon_confused.gif

You live in Ireland? I was just talking to someone from Dublin who said the sun only comes out 5 days a year. I hope that's not the case where you live.

I am of the opinion that moderate sun exposure on as much skin as possible is healthy. Just be careful not to burn, keep your face shielded, and get out in the sun with your shirt off as often as you can. If necessary put sunscreen on areas most prone to burning (shoulders, neck, ears). A light tan is a good thing.

I am in my 50s, fair and freckled, and have really healthy skin in spite of deliberate moderate exposure all my life. I have not been to a tanning bed in over a decade, but as I recall the intensity was too extreme, even for short exposure.

If rejection is your problem it may be easier to just move to a town without beach culture. It works for me!

From your profile, you have nice clear and healthy skin. No need to mess with it. My small bout with skin cancer convinces me that tanning is dumb.

If you really want to, talk to a dermatologist. The first bill alone should convince you to change your mind.

Just stay as good looking as you already are!

    Nope, that doesn't always work.

I just get all red and go back to being pale.

you could get someone to beat you with a stick. Then you would be closer to black...not african, but actual black and blue...kinda painful though.
