Name a movie which had a strong emotional impact on you.
For me it was Brokeback Mountain. When I came home from seeing that I shut the door to my apartment and burst into tears, it was a delayed reaction but that movie really moved me.

The riveting stories & images of David France's documentary How to Survive a Plague (2012) had an incredibly emotional impact on me, especially while watching it at the cinema.

Having been born in the mid-80s, I really didn't witness the HIV/AIDS epidemic, but I believe every single gay man should be made aware of this part of history and see this documentary (the younger, the better) to realize that the fight for marriage equality doesn't even come close to other-- much bigger-- fights homosexual people have had to face... some, in order to survive.

Wild At Heart: when the heroine Lula, driving down a lost highway, gazes out into the night and sees her terrifying mother as the Wicked Witch of The West flying beside her.

We're all children, and our fears are forever right behind us.

    Movies that made me Cry/Sob.

    Titanic
    Brokeback Mountain
    The Wedding Banquet
    Soundless Windchime
War Films (The Pianist, Schindler's list, 3 Seasons, Atonement, Lust Caution, Apocalypse Now)
That movie about 9/11 Plane Crash
    Life of Pi ....etc

Movies that made me feel weird, creep out and super afraid.

Life of Pi again (if any of you read the fear thread about my fear of being lost on a boat, you'd know) Lol
    Blair Witch Project
    World War Z
Any Slasher Horror film / The Scream Trilogy
Cult / Japanese Horror cinema (which I'm not a fan of)

Movies that made me feel hopeful, curious, romantic.

    The Lake House
    Titanic
    Sweet November
    Oblivion
    Eating Out Series
    The Da Vinci Code
    To Wong Foo
    ...etc.

    Just some sample, that's all.

    - I agreed, I loved this movie a lot too! I believe the Oscars 2005 when Crash won best picture was a tragedy! This movie was the best of that year, urg, homophobia among the Oscars Voters! Anyway!!

Are sadness and pain the the only emotions that move gay guys? Sooo many of these threads where people list songs, videos and movies that affected them are absolutely dominated by acts of pain, loss, mourning and hopelessness. Such a grim team to be on.

For me, I am very much moved by movies where people overcome, where people sacrifice to help someone, or where the main character finds them self. Gladiator, Braveheart, Inception, Forrest Gump, Little Miss Sunshine,, The Help....

I'd have to give the award to two movies:

    1) Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

I shed a few tears every time I watch this movie, and I've watched this film at least five times in the past four years or so. It is a movie that inspires a broad range of feelings, from anger to sadness, and from hopelessness to solace. This was the first documentary movie that I watched out of my own will, and it is the most emotionally striking one I've watched to date.

    2) Children of Men

If you are into dark, sci-fi films that are more focused on realistic, believable portrayal of the future, you might enjoy this film. There are at least three, long scenes in this movie that gets my palms sweating, even though I've watched this movie at least once every year since it came out in 2006. It is one of the recent examples of filmmaking at its best, and there are only a few movies out there that will resonate as much feelings as this film.

Whenever I watch 'The Hours' its def stirs up a lot of emotion, between the dialogue and amazing music, it's very sad and beautiful.

other movies that make my emotions start swirling would be

    What Dreams May Come
    Imaginary Heroes
    The Vow
    Atonement
    Evening

btw this is my firs post!!!!icon_eek.gif

one of my favorites! I watch it everytime I see that its on.

Another favorite of mine is Imitation of Life (Lana Turner/Sandra Dee version). A bit melodramatic but it moved me to tears the first time I saw it. I've watched it so many times since I can't cry to it anymore.

Movies that make me lose it are some of the better ones around for me. Nothing like expelling all that emotion and just feeling new and refreshed!!!

Life as a House: This movie is so great. From beginning to end you find yourself hoping for something more and winding up with a story so full of love and compassion. This movie is fantastic, anyone who hasn't seen it is missing out.

    Steele Magnolias

    Beaches

    The Story of Us

    All great movies.

The car fire scene from CRASH gets me every time. The soundtrack makes it extra powerful.
And also the scene with the little kid, the gun, and the invisible cloak. OMG.

When I watched The Fly II I cried when the dog died. In Gladiator I cried. For some reason when Captain Sisko died or went with the Prophets I cried for Jake Sisko. Animated Green Lantern, when Razer and Killowog (sp?) hugged I wept a bit. Up the movie too I cried...

Movies that made me feel good or excited: Jackie Chan movies. I always feel I can do Kung Fu, which I did ages ago. Wong Fei Hung were good movies. Oh yeah Planet of the Apes I had tears when Caesar went home.
