Yeah, healthy natural food is so much more expensive. One avocado costs more than a dollar menu meal at McDonalds. On portion of salmon and a pack of fresh asparagus is $10 to $20. You could buy a FAMILY meal at Popeyes or Boston Market for that.

First thing that came to mind was the backlash Michelle Obama got from irate parents who didn't want her or the government involved in their children's food choices after she advocated healthier school lunches.

Wow, that's like saying that you can buy smaller portions of healthier food with the same amount of money you'd need to buy large amounts of empty calories. icon_rolleyes.gif

At any rate, it's not the government's job to slap our hands when we reach for the burger meal over the bag of carrots.

Though I do agree that school lunches should be healthier, as many kids do not in fact have any choice.

Lets use one of the more expensive items at the grocery store. An avocado.
Ice burg lettuce head is only $0.89, celery $0.69 if I remember correctly

Our govt. takes 40 BILLION of our tax dollars each year and gives it to junk food, monsanto, ADM, mega commodities like corn and corn syrup etc - fed to cattle in feedlots ( causing e coli ) - that's why that stuff that's so incredibly over processed, bad for the environment, bad for your health is so cheap.

Small organic family farms producing Avocados, etc. get nada.
In terms of free market capitalism, this is an unlevel playing field for competition of our food dollars that we spend each year. Our govt. invests in the wrong stuff for us and it costs us our health as a nation.
Obesity kills near 400K per year, not as many as smoking and heart disease - but still A LOT of people !

THANKS metta8 for being a step ahead icon_idea.gif

The conceptual fail with Obama care is is has nothing to do with health It is just a tax and spend program. What I have found out having tried dozens of health modalities is that diet trumps everything .
