In Bodybuilding, what do you mean by "cutting"?

    i saw a photo on here and the caption was like "after 3 weeks of cutting..."

    what does cutting mean?

    i know when you see a guy with abs, people say "wow he has cuts"

    is that the same? does this mean abs?

    enlighten me please. thanks

    In laymans terms-

    Cutting happens after the bulking phase and is traditionally is what bb's do a few weeks before a competition. Think of it as an extreme "diet" phase where you lose excess water and body fat.
