My elderly father is in the hospital and I will spend part of the day with him. My partner will be spending most of the day with his family. I don' t get along with them because they are the church crowd. I am only adult child with no close family here in the Akron, Oh area.

In the past I would spend most of the day with my Dad. Does anyone have a suggestion about gettimng together with other Gay folks in the area?

My partner and I always volunteer on Thanksgiving at a kitchenb. Its a great way to get out and get involved and you meet some great people that just hit a bad place in life. With the economy the way it is, I am sure they will need all the help they can get..

This. There are plenty of places that need help serving others. It is incredibly rewarding- especially if you don't have to duck out of a Tgiving to go.
