I don't know anything about JD Salinger's personal life, and so I'm naturally dubious about getting accurate biographical info from a Hollywood movie. I'd feel more comfortable reading a reputable biography before seeing a movie interpretation.
But of course I read "Catcher" around 1963 when I was in prep school, we all did, and "Franny and Zooey" a few years later. Along with "Lord of the Flies", "1984", "Brave New World", "The Lord of the Rings", and all the trendy things for my generation by other authors.
I wonder if those books are even read today, or any books at all?
