In case you’re wondering the person who took the pic says the mouse escaped.

After looking into this poor creatures little eyes, would you help it get away, kill him or hope the cat catches it?

    Escape!
House cats most likely hunt for fun.

Similar incident took place at my home couple of weeks ago. I helped a baby rat escape.

I bought one of these several years ago and it works great. It's a catch and release mouse trap. You just have to make sure you check it or else the little guy could get trapped inside and starve to death. They're very sturdy and one will last you a lifetime. Plus if you're one of those people who are afraid of mice (which I've never understood), this is designed so that you never have to touch the mouse at all. You just take the Tin Cat far away from your house to a rural area, open the lid and wait for it to scurry away. The coolest thing is they always look up at me and make direct eye contact before running away, as if they're saying "thank you."

You can buy them here ----> http://www.amazon.com/Victor-M310-Live-Mouse-Trap/dp/B00004RAMU

To the OP - clever, I was so sure this was going to be a Guy Above You thread!

To everyone else, if this were a rat instead of a field mouse would you feel the same?

If I have to get involved, I usually carry them out to the edge of the woods and toss them in. But the stupid cats aren't supposed to let it get that far.

Seriously, mice are incredibly destructive. Once you've had your furniture, your computer, your car ruined by mice, you'll have a different opinion. That's why I have three cats.

They do do a lot of damage and also doodoo a lot. Found mouse droppings around the gnawed wiring on the back of my sound system cabinet. But I'd still catch and release if I could. I now use little sound emitters in plugs all over the house to repel them. Haven't had a problem since.

I don't believe in taking a life unless you're in physical danger or you absolutely need it for food. So, no it wouldn't make any difference to me if it were a rat. They're no different than us....they just want to live.

youmotherfixers saidi'd kill stuart little. survival of the fittest, only the strong survive. i'd stomp the life out of that biatch like how my brother did at our old apartment. in fact, we got a rat who's on the lam right now in our house and yes, we're waiting for that fuck to pop out his hole so we can take him to a trip to belize. after that, we celebrating like how we did last year with that other son of a bitch that felt it was okay to come in here.

    you sound like a treehugger.

You sound like a sociopath. You post a dancing gif while speaking about killing a defenseless animal and talk about it in a very excited tone. You've got a screw loose.

I would have let him live. I'd turn him loose outside in the bushes. I guess my cat would be pissed at me for a few days though - - maybe turn his back when I entered a room, but he'd get over it. :-)

i'm not a sociopath, i'm a realist. icon_wink.gif i had the misfortune of living in places that had roaches and rats. grew up living with them. that's that unprivileged life. they don't give a fuck about humans. i can pull up plenty of stories of babies choking to death from cockroaches crawling down their throat or nose in their sleep or worst off, people being bitten by rodents where they ended up catching some disease or whatever. they have their negative reputations for a reason. they are not dogs or cats. they are parasites.

you find out how cute that rat is when you see it shitting all over your kitchen, putting holes in your food, and getting you sick with asthma from the rat droppings and who knows what else.

If your child is choking on cockroaches and having it's face eaten off by rats, you're living in SQUALLER! All animals are just trying to live. If you don't want them in your house, make sure you don't have open cracks in your walls. Problem solved. icon_rolleyes.gif

Interesting to know that you believe in "survival of the fitest, only the strong survive" so we and society knows not to give you any assistance or help. On several of our post you have mentioned your battle with mental health issues and finding employment - you are hardly one to talk about being the fittest. icon_wink.gif

well, that's that privileged statement right there. i knew you wouldn't get it.

You assume way too much. I spent the first part of my adult life poor....VERY poor. But ya know what? I always managed to buy soap, bleach and shove tin foil into cracks in the walls to keep rodents and cockroaches out. Cleanliness doesn't take money.

Kill it... They'll have the run of the place (along with the cockroaches) after the apocalypse. Until then, they better stay out of my house! icon_smile.gif
