failscarf saidI honestly dont see the issue.

    Luckily, many others do.

Now the CEO is saying this, " “With reference to statements made yesterday, I apologize if my words have generated controversy or misunderstanding, or if they have hurt the sensibilities of some people. In the interview I simply wanted to highlight the central role of the woman in the family.”

Perhaps you identify with the last line and so see no issue.

I still don't see the issue.
A crappy pasta company can have all the crappy views they want to have.

I guess if you were gay you might get it, although you know on FB and in the news there's a mass of straights that DO get it and are boycotting the company. You should also look up the company itself and see what kind of stake they have in your economy.

Or people can get over it?
Like I said, crappy pasta company.

"He added: “Everyone has the right to do what they want without disturbing those around them”. But then the pasta magnate upped the ante by attacking gay adoption. “I have no respect for adoption by gay families because this concerns a person who is not able to choose," he said."

I'll get over it just fine. But I won't buy their products and I'll tell everyone I know. Then he'll have to "get over it" when his profits go into the toilet!

    Fair enough!

I saw that stuff on sale once so bought a 2 for 1. It's not even eatable. It's garbage. I threw it out.

Before that I had no idea it was even possible to make bad pasta.

This. Get over it, some people don't like gays, or Asians or whatever. Such is life, freedom of choice is a funny thing, freedom to be stupid and racist.

failscarf said, "Its just an opinion dude."

..and so should be disregarded? Well, let's disregard your opinion first! icon_biggrin.gif

Meanwhile, in the real world, failscarf, the fallout is growing huge.

Youre taking this too personally. Not everyone has to like gays.

Hmm..well you certainly don't, and are trivializing something you don't understand (but then you're not gay or a man). icon_biggrin.gif

    Proof?
And what don't I understand? That people are not as accepting as others want them to be?
The bottomline is that the pasta sucks and I have a new reason not to buy it.
    Who cares what he says?

You admitted it on three topics so far. Are you suddenly changing your mind now? icon_lol.gif

Actually, their whole wheat pasta is foolproof. But that chef...

“I have no respect for adoption by gay families because this concerns a person who is not able to choose," he said.

Then why would he respect adoption by anyone? What a tool!

What's Procter and Gamble's role with Barilla? Aren't they like a U.S. distributor or marketer or something?

Dont bother, its a dead end. We both know anyone who begins their comments with "its just an opinion" cannot be persuaded into thinking logically on social issues. Its just sad.

Guido BarillaRegarding my comments at the radio program La Zanzara, I [apologize] if my words generated misunderstandings or controversy or if they hurt some people's feelings. In the interview I just wanted to underline the centrality of the woman's role in the family. To be clear, I just want to specify that I do have great respect of every person, without any kind of distinction. I do respect gay people and everybody's freedom of expression. I also said I do respect gay marriage. Barilla in its advertising has always chosen to represent the family because this is the symbol of hospitality and affection for everyone.

So his issue is two adult MEN in the household without an adult female. There's a therapist for that, Guido.

Nice thread-hanging with the gay marriage support. Just don't have any kids, and if you do, be a female, because "centrality," right? Yeah, got it, G.

And the respecting everyone "without any kind of distinction" kinda falls flat on arrival, no?

Nothing says "hospitality and affection for everyone" quite like the way "Christianists" use "family" these days.
