Some, like Exxon, like Republicans, we will have to drag into the light of fairness. We should remember those who were in the forefront and prefer them when we do business. HRC has a good list.

It's their stockholders too, who voted the the previous measure down 2:1 a few weeks ago if I recall correctly. The bigots, fortunately are starting to become more and more outnumbered here in Texas. And others are dying off.

If Exxon is so evil, why did Obama accept a $260,000 contribution from them after he got reelected.

For 17th time, Exxon Mobil rejects LGBT workplace protections -

"But this is the first year that Exxon Mobil has rejected LGBT non-discrimination protections for its employees after adopting domestic partner benefits last year. The company instituted those benefits following the Labor Department’s decision after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling against the Defense of Marriage Act to make spousal employer-provided pension and health care for employees available to married same-sex couples regardless of where they live under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, or ERISA. According to guidance to shareholders ahead of this year’s meeting, Exxon Mobil’s board of directors advised shareholders to reject the resolution because the company has sufficient non-discrimination policies."

    ...............

"Exxon Mobil is currently facing litigation alleging anti-gay bias in hiring practices filed last year by the LGBT group Freedom to Work, which submitted two fictitious resumes to the company in response to a job posting.

One was from a more qualified applicant who outed herself as LGBT on her resume; the other was a less qualified applicant who gave no indications about her sexual orientation or gender identity. The less qualified non-LGBT applicant received multiple callbacks, the more qualified LGBT applicant received nothing."

Regardless if the company itself adds the new EO to protect its Indirect employees, One change that they WILL have to make, that is if Exxon Mobile has union contracts. Any union contract(s) that it has, with the federal government, if any, will require the EO update because the EO ties into Title VII of the civil rights act of 1964, most likely, the Davis Bacon Act.

What most people don't understand about federal contracting is there are two labor classifications in the payroll system:

Indirect Labor pool = The company (Exxon Mobile money) pays the employee
Direct Labor pool = The contract (Federal Government money) pays the employee
