I'm looking to get my body nice and toned. I don't need a six pack or anything, that sounds like a lot of work and a lot of nasty protein shakes icon_razz.gif I'm tired of being skinny I want some muscle!

I go jogging about 3 times a week depending on my work/school schedule, I also jump rope because I heard it's a good cardio workout. I also eat lots of fruits and veggies and lots and lots of fiber! any advice on what I can do to improve my body?

First you got to define "tone" because you say you don't like being skinny and tone implies tight or cut which would keep you slim and by jogging and jumping rope you'd stay slim. If you want to bulk and add muscle you want to increase calories and hit the weights, do some cardio but reduce it.

You are already tone because you are very young and have like 0 body fat. So what you probably mean is muscle ... you are going to have to carb it up and lift weights.

Just eat slightly more, maybe an extra meal and do weights. For muscles to grow give it 2days rest minimum. A week if you want to grow bigger. Between two days and a week for growth. Toned is about two days.

Depends on the kind of toned body you are looking for. Rates start at $225 for in and $325 for out. I can let you have Chester for $75. He's sort of toned.

Eat protein. Eggs. Two egg yolks per day.
    Or meat.
    Or nuts.

I guess by "Toned" I mean a more defined body. Right now I'm just skinny. I have no muscle what so ever. I couldn't do a pull up to save my life. I would just dangle there like a little monkey :3 I only want a little muscle though and have my belly more tight. I'm assuming sit ups or crunches will help with that.

I'll buy some weights for my house and up my calorie intake. thanks for the help! icon_biggrin.gif

Get some push up bars too. They're cheap and usually portable so you can take them on the go.

If you want muscle, you need to lift weights. Seems you're doing nothing but cardio, and that will keep you skinny, because you're taking in calories only to burn them. When you're lifting weights properly, you're tearing muscles apart and using protein backed by calories to rebuild them. If all your calories are being diverted to cardio (which generally doesn't involve much muscle-tearing, unless it's very high intensity), you won't get muscle.

To get a toned body, generally you must lift lighter weights for more repetitions.

And yes, you may need to consume protein drinks. Whey protein is honestly the way to go these days, as it has a bunch of amino acids and proteins that most people just don't get enough of.

Eggs are also a sure bet too - you don't need to eat them raw (lol). I've taken to lightly frying two eggs in the morning and eating those along with a piece of whole wheat toast+peanut butter and a fruit smoothie. Keeps you well-sated for hours.

icon_question.gif Tell us more about that. Why do they taste 'nasty'? Too sweet, not sweet enough, bland or what?

I've tried a lot of different kinds and brands of protein powder over the years and have settled on the ones that I like. I do NOT like any that are 'vanilla' or other 'berry' like flavors. At all. Too sweet and 'nasty' icon_razz.gif

The flavor/brand I like is Optimum Nutrition ("ON"), specifically 'ON Gold Standard Whey Chocolate'. I put two scoops of that in a blender with some ice, organic whole milk (or almond milk or coconut milk), and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Tastes great (to me). If I'm feeling the need for extra carbs, I'll toss in a whole banana. Tastes sort of like a banana split. Sometimes I'll leave out the peanut butter and put strawberries in it.

I also buy a generic unflavored whey protein in bulk. This is good for making a 'berry' smoothie. Two scoops of powder with ice, some milk or milk substitute, and blueberries and strawberries, maybe a banana. Very refreshing and not too sweet or 'synthetic' tasting.

I also do a bunch of other 'weird' things with protein powder but the above is enough for now. Suffice it to say, just because some of them suck toe jam doesn't mean they all do. Maybe you won't like any of them but you might find you do like some if you try them out. Obviously any one thing done too frequently is gona get 'old' so you have to experiment with different smoothie recipes. Hell, I even toss raw eggs in my smoothies but I understand most people find that kind of disgusting and potentially dangerous.

All of the protein shakes I've ever tried tasted bland and they had a really grainy texture... And that my friend is why they are nasty lol icon_razz.gif I guess I could try some other ones. I just hope they aren't all grainy...

See, what the lotion does is seep into your skin and into your muscles, lubricating them and making it easier for them to pop out. And ta daaa you've got a si pack bitch! icon_cool.gif
