Actually that is perfectly inline with today's brand of liberalism in the USA: It includes a heaping helping of hypocrisy.

That's full of shit as shown by placing these stats relative to those of the general population...

Article: "nearly half of lesbian and gay respondents and 27% of bisexual respondents “strongly agreed” that producers and studio execs believe that lesbian and gay performers are less marketable."

    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-2-02.png

As opposed to the 75% of gay men & 79% of lesbians who say there is only some or little social acceptance or 80% of the LGBT community who report there being less than "a lot" of acceptance in society.

Not a direct correlation of what was surveyed but not too distant either and generally showing Hollywood to be 60% more tolerant than society in general.

Article: "over a third of LGBT performers, as well as some non-LGBT performers, had witnessed “disrespectful” treatment toward these minorities."

    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-0-02.png

As opposed to the 58% of the general population who have not just witnessed but who have been subject to slurs and jokes so that happens 57% less in Hollywood than it does in general.

Article: "16% of LGBT respondents reported they had experienced discrimination."

As opposed to 21% of the general population who reported discrimination by employers
    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-0-02.png

So discrimination in the workplace is reported 31% more in the general population than specifically in Hollywood.

Article: "Gay men were the most likely to report they have experienced some form of discrimination, with one in five reporting an experience,”
    &
Article: "Bisexual actors were about half as likely to report discrimination as gay or lesbian actors"

    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-2-03.png

    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-2-09.png

So 53% of gays & lesbians see discrimination in society in general while 20% of gay men report experiencing discrimination in Hollywood, a 62% reduction.

    Finally...

    SDT-2013-06-LGBT-2-08.png

    Gee, what a surprise!

^ Nice attempt at spin. The fact remains:

And you actually think it's "liberal Hollywood" that's the problem? They know very well who their market is. The majority of TV watchers are fat redneck slobs sitting on the sofa night after night who vote Republican and are terrified of queers. Use your brain dude.

Your taking facts out of context is spin.

My showing facts in proper context (you know, not separated from the rest of the facts) is not spin.

What you see as spin is merely truth. It only looks like spin if you were already twisted. But unwinding your bullshit seems to make you dizzy. Here, I have a pill for you. It is called understanding. Try it, you'll like it.

Is there discrimination in the world? Well of course, no shit Sherlock. Is Hollywood a part of the world, well, of course. So is Hollywood subject to discrimination just as is the rest of the world? Well, duh.

So it doesn't say anything to say that there is discrimination in Hollywood. We know that there is, discrimination not just in the world, not just in Hollywood, but reaching even into our own community. Look in the mirror lately? Ever used being gay as derogative yourself?

So then if discrimination permeates all of society, then it is irrelevant to call out a group as being particularly discriminating without judging that relative to the discrimination found elsewhere. That's not spin. That's context. And the context shows that your comment about liberalism is not just wrong, but wrong intentionally & strategically. Context reveals that this fact remains: that your statement about liberalism is full of shit.

Now here, have some fresh orange juice with that pill.

^ And now you resort to snide personal attacks. Par for the course for liberals.

Providing, explaining and applying evidence is not a personal attack.

The only fact remaining is that each time you post, you further highlight that there is less discrimination in Hollywood than in the rest of society.

Your attempt to project liberalism as hypocritical failed.

How a person can decide to argue something that isn't even the topic and "win" is beyond me. But hey, that's how the mind of the liberal is wired.

A SAG-AFTRA study has found that, even as opportunities and conditions improve, discrimination persists against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender actors.
